How I Ranked A 246,000 Keyword On Page 1 Of Google

As you can see, I was able to rank for the most competitive keyword within the internet marketing world.

Here Are The 3 Things That Need To Be In Place For You To Rank A Highly Competitive Keyword:

- On-Page Optimization (Title, description box and Tags)
- Drip-Feed Of Links + 3-4 Senuke Link Pyramids (Monty Template modified)
- Distribution Of Retention Views (80-100%), Likes, Subscribers and Comments

Keep in mind that you want this distribution to look natural (like a mini-viral campaign)

For example, if you send 10,000 retention views to the video, make sure the likes, subscribers, comments and back-links are coming in at the same time. Although I have tested this and found that you won't get penalized not doing it this way, the results are better if you do.

I want to mention that, when going after these big keywords, it is important to keep back-linking. I have tried it without consistently sending back-links and usually I noticed my rankings fluctuate because of it. (Note: This only applies to Google rankings, you will still be on the first page of YouTube Guaranteed)

That being said, for low to medium competitive keywords, after your initial mini viral campaign, the rankings will stick. All you would have to do is maybe send a link pyramid to them once in a while to make sure. Of course you can keep building links until you rank #1 and then back off a bit. Totally up to you.

How Many Views,Likes,Subs, Comments and Backlinks Do I Need To Get Consistent Results?

I have tested numerous videos and I found the following to be helpful:

- You can hit the first page of YouTube with 5000-10,000 views (Guaranteed top 5 rankings with over 10,000 views IF all the other aspects are in place)

- I have videos with 40 likes and some with 100+ likes (doesn't make too much of a difference)

- 40-100 Subs are more then necessary (remember, you are trying to rank your video, don't over think things too much)

- Comments don't even matter to be honest (they might matter more for conversions but I will leave that for another post)

- The more back-links the better. I have noticed great results after 7000+ back-links for all my videos. As of right now I have not noticed a difference when I send higher Pr+ links vs. any link I can get (NOTE: DO NOT spam your videos with scarepbox. This is the one thing that doesn't work. You want lots of links, but you want variety.Blasting with scrapebox will get you nowhere, you have been warned.)

- Lastly, sending social bookmarks has always helped boost a videos rankings. However, I see people blasting their videos with social bookmarks and complaining that they aren't ranking. Get a variety and put all the things I talked about into place as a mini-viral campaign. After that you can send some bookmarks or link pyramids here and there to boost your video.

Hope you guys enjoyed this and hit me up with any questions!

NOTE: Here is another video where I explain how I used this strategy to rank an 18,000+ keyword overnight! http://www.warriorforum.com/adsense-...overnight.html (thought you guys might like it!)

I dont see you ranking at all at the first 3 pages of Google for the kw "how to lose weight", the other video is there though of your competitor.

And neither do you show up on the first 2 pages in Youtube, haven't even bothered to look further.

Not so surprising when you only use some Senuke campaigns.

Blah, my bad, looks like a lot of my links got de-indexed today and I dropped rankings.

Haven't sent any links in about 10 days, but I should be back on the first page soon.

Once again my apologies for not checking before posting.

it does look like you're getting personalized results. google can still show personalized results based on your browser history so signed out from google accounts isnt the solution.

what kind of "a lot of links" did you build to get into the first page of a highly competitive keyword that were deindexed?

I did not but it was ranking there, even early this morning (which is why I didn't check before posting).

I use nuke myself and I did not build slow links with it. I made mini viral campaigns.

lol, dude I know your skeptical because the rankings aren't there at the moment, but I am not new to this.

I know how to clear cookies, browsing history etc. The backlinks that were de-indexed were from GSA (you can look this up yourself in ahrefs to see if you don't believe me)

        That's not what I meant.

What I mean is, have you hosted a video on your own paid host (Hostgator, etc...), instead of hosting the video on Youtube, then ranked the self hosted video thumbnail image in Google SERPs. This way you don't have to try & drive the Youtube traffic back to your own site to make a sale (less steps to make a sale).

Has it been took off YouTube? I cant even find it and I have actively been trying to find the specific video. Even typing the full name of the title. Might be though because i am from UK.

    Cant see the video anywhere,

EDIT : Ah managed to find it after looking a while. Its not page 1 here in UK. On Google or youtube. Have to manually type the video title "Omg how to lose weight in 10 days"

A lot of my links got de-indexed last night, and the video dropped of youtube + onto the 3rd page of google.

I ran a small campaign overnight and it's back to #6 on google (US). It's not back on youtube yet, but give me a few more days and it should be back up there

Your results seem to be bouncing around a lot. And considering you made this video about 8 months ago, and its older than your #1 competitor, I'm wondering if you know why this is happening?

If I search on google, your video doesn't display at all. I have to click on "more videos from youtube", then you will display as the second video.

HOWEVER, if I search directly on youtube, your video is nowhere to be found.
Either way, it seems you have a decent idea of what to do. I just think you are missing something essential. And I can't tell you what that is. But I can pose a wild guess.

If you are sending all retention views to your video, and your % is ridiculously high, could that potentially look fake?

I've been ranking videos on youtube for FAR LESS competitive keywords. And I don't use retention views. I use a fiver gig that sends around 20,000 natural views over the course of a couple months. And a small percent of those views wind up retaining the viewers attention.

Additionally, I do precisely what you recommend against, which is scrapebox. I scrape a ton of related pages to that niche, then blast them periodically. Usually once a week for 4 weeks is all it takes along with this 1 fiver gig.

Let me be clear, I am not professing to be an expert. And I don't really care for competitive keywords either, I'm able to profit off much smaller keywords. My main concern is $$$.

But these are my questions to you.

    1) Why do you think you're having problems holding the #1 spot in google? It seems like you were able to get fairly close, so seriously, what do you think the issue is? Do you have any idea what the #1 video is doing differently than you?

    2) Have you ever tried ranking less competitive keywords, that aren't "youtube friendly"? Like instead of ranking "how to" keywords, have you tried ranking any commerical/business type keywords?

Something simple like "home remodeling nj"?

The reason I ask, is there is a lot more money in those types of keywords (in my own opinion). Many people would say that google won't rank more competitive/local biz keywords, because it doesn't consider youtube relevant for those keywords.

Again, using the example "home remodeling nj", google considers sites more relevant for a keyword like that, rather than videos. Or so that is the theory behind it.

However, google will rank long tail/biz keywords just fine... and this has always confused the crap out of me.

If you targeting "home remodeling + town + state", then you can rank a video easily.

So thats always led me to believe, that with the right method, you should be able to rank for more competitive local biz keywords as well.

Is this something you have tested at all?

I've had great luck targeting long tail business keywords, but want to learn how to rank for the more competitive ones too. If you would like to run a test together, I can make the video, even pay you, and you can try running your system on one of our more competitive local keywords, merely as a test. If it works, I'll pay you for more.

Let me know what you think about this or if you've done any experimenting in the local biz area. I'd like to hear your opinion on this.

    Thanks - Red

This is the exact question you should not be focusing on.

Although, yes I have made money with that video, if I focused on the money I would have never ranked the video.

Focus on creating and the process of creating, and the money will be a bystander. The problem with focusing on money is that you do the bare minimum to get it, which results in you not getting any.

When this happens you go on to the next shiny thing and it's a vices cycle of frustration.

Since you are talking about a site, there are a number of reasons this could have happened:

      1) anchor text
      2) too many spammy links

With sites, less is more these days. Spam links just don't work on them anymore.

Most people use Senuke the wrong way. If I am sending links to sites, I don't know anything under Pr1 anymore.

You would get a ton of traffic. When you did, it would be up to you to monetize it. Thankfully there are 100 different ways to do that.

Don't focus on "what if's" and "how much money", focus on "how do I create something lots of other people will benefit from?" and you will go places.

I was bouncing around a lot because right after I posted this thread, many of my links got de-indexed (700+ to be exact).

Before that I hadn't sent backlinks to the video in 10 days or so. The combination of the two led to the bouncing.

Either way, if you check now, I am back to #1 in youtube and #6 in google (US).

I wasn't saying blast 20,000 scrapebox links, I was just making sure noobs don't order 20,000 links at once from fiverr and then come complaining about how they are no where in the search engines. You seem to know what you are doing though.

My ranking bounce around had nothing to do with retention views. In fact only the first 10,000 were retention views (to rank). The other 40,000 views are all natural.

Yes, I am currently experimenting with local keywords and video. I will be doing a case study on this in the future.

If you want to chat more, pm me and we can talk

Where you buy retention views? Hmm looks like Fiver provides the answer.

Btw you rank at #1 in Google.com - checked from Thai IP, and #1 inside Youtube as well, so congrats for that. Definitely not bad for a mix of Senuke and GSA links.

I am going to replicate your process but then with high PR links only, just to see where that would get me, you said it doesn't work that well but I am just curious. Many people scream murder about low quality mass volume links of course, but it can definitely simulate popularity when getting them from tons of different platforms, just not very safe to boost a self owned website with.

Your video is on the second page ranked 18th from where I'm sitting. You mentioned that links from GSA were de-indexed. Is this proof that GSA produces garbage links? I was contemplating purchasing GSA but not if this is what's going to happened with their links.

Losing 700 links in a day is quite extreme, what I noticed with that type of links is that they often only get deleted when a webmaster let's his site expire and thus the links get removed, as the high PR ones are mostly blog comments and guest books so hard to understand how so many got removed in 1 day.

Did those 700 links come from the same domain OP?

Np, to be honest it keeps bouncing around from page 1 to 2. To stabalize it I need to keep sending consistent backlinks. This happened to one of my other videos (in a competitive niche)

Also, the first few people weren't skeptics, they just did a quick search and found out that my rankings had fallen off.

That was my fault because I hadn't checked, but it was kind of bad timing that it happened right before I posted this case study.

I actually test a lot of different sellers. Look around BST on forums though. Usually I develop better relationships with them.

I never said High Pr links don't work. My main point is that you need a lot of links for a mini viral campaign. It would just be a lot more effort for me to get a lot of High Pr links and so far it's not worth my time.

I will actually be testing just sending a few extremely high Pr links to see if the video sticks.

GSA produces whatever you want it to. If you want High PR links, it will give you those. If you want garbage it will give you those.

I use GSA for some sites and it works fine. The restrictions I put are much different with regards to sites vs. videos. Please don't get that confused.

I'm not sure where the loss came from, but it's very likely that a webmaster let their site expire.

Well it's good to be on top, but have you made any sales?
Btw, such videos often get deleted by youtube, since users and competitors will complain and so on... I had a YT video ranking in spot 1 on google for specific product. I made almost $1000 in 3 weeks. However, after that my video got deleted... Most likely my competitor complained on to YT.

lol... this is exactly the type of question that won't make you any money

Focusing on money will only move you away from it. I have made sales yes, but the point of this is to show you how to get traffic. Once you get traffic your next step is conversions etc. etc.

I have only had 1 video get removed out of all the videos I have created. The only reason that video go removed is because I used the most spammy description in the whole world. It was deceptive. I learned.

If you take 10 seconds of your time, you will see that my video has been up there for 7 months....

Yes, but your video has been #1 less then a week. Noone gives a shit if your video ranks in 3rd page, once you hit 1 and generate some "real" traffic, it will get attention

Don't bullshit people. Your video has 50k views, probably 20-30k are made through vagex. Well, doesn't matter... how to lose weight is being searched on google 250k (global) monthly and 60k (local). If your youtube video have been on first spot for 6 months, it should have a LOT more views.

Obviously there isn't a consistency here It moved from page one to page two I doubt it has hit #1 and stayed there for awhile or the views would be for one day at 250k a month 8k views dividing 250k over 30 days a month.

              :]

              Good work though still.

OK dude, since you are so damn lazy, let me explain this to you:

It is ranked #1 on YOUTUBE. #6 On Google. NOT #1 on Google.

Since you still don't want to watch the video, I already said I sent 10k views, and the other 40,000+ are natural.

Now, either you create some value and contribute in some way or GTFO.

manual link building is the worst thing you can do.

You need to value your time more then that. There are guys out there who will do 1/9000th of the work you do for the same results.

The math doesn't work that way though. top 3 results get 80%+ of the traffic. Sure the video has a thumbnail so it might get attention, but there is a competing video as well.

Everything considered, I was constantly getting 600-800 hits a day. Only the last few days did it fall to around 400, but I should be able to get it to stick pretty soon.

All I know is I love youtube. And I hope there aren't major changes anytime soon that make it harder to rank videos.

I only started getting serious with youtube about 6 months ago, and since then I've realized that you can basically run a business off it. Not only can you run a business, but if you know what you're doing, you can get things started FAST.

I have a couple dozen local biz/long tail keywords that rank above google places, in the top 3, and every single one took less than a week to get there.

My ultimate plan is to get 200-300 videos up, targeting as many local keywords as possible. I'll use some leads for my own biz/niche, then sell the others to contractors I know in my area. Its truely amazing how many local biz owners neglect youtube. They make crappy videos, have no idea how to rank them, and it leaves gaps all over the place where you can easily rank in the top 3. Even if they're low traffic keywords it doesn't matter, when you have enough, it really adds up.

Anyway, thats enough ranting. I just seriously f##kn love youtube!

Yeah I have been looking at this exact area as well.

The only thing is, why sell the leads? I don't wanna be bothered with that

See thats a serious problem. Most marketers are not salesmen. And they have no idea how much certain leads are really worth.

I sold 1 lead a few days ago for $750. My specialty is in sales/monetization. And I don't monetize my leads like anyone I know on this forum. For me, selling commission based leads, has been very profitable.

When you consider the fact that certain businesses are charging $10,000-$20,000 a job, they will have no problem compensating you well. The key is to not give them options. I set a # in my head that I know my leads are worth before sale/after sale, and thats precisely what I demand from business owners. If they're not willing to pay, if they screw me 1 time, I send the leads to their competitor. I also don't demand after sale rates before the sale is made. I collect that portion only, after a sale is made. But I contract them to close a certain % of jobs a month, and if they can't fulfill that quota, our contract expires (this doesn't just add value to my leads, but to the business itself).

When I got into marketing, I came in with a lot of sales training. So if there is one thing I understand well, its value, and how to leverage it.

I think its time we discuss something over pm.

The only thing that bothers me is that Youtube can ban an account any day any time when they see what's going on. That's why I'm always cautious with trying to rank anything else then my own site. Especially when buying views and building a lot of low quality links. I know Squidoo is famous for that as well when you build to many.

For me, an "attention seeker" title will get you great click through rate, that is your first and most powerful tool. So make sure to choose a good title, play with it and be wise if you want your videos in the highest rank on the result list.

Whenever I search for videos on Youtube, I click first on the titles that are exactly what I'm looking for, like "DUDE, THIS IS THE VIDEO I WANT TO SEE and SHARE with others".

But the content of the video must also be in accordance with the title, so you not only need to do keyword research in advance but you also need to remember what your viewer needs, so when they watch your video, it's not something crappy, and totally different from the title.

Well, that's one way to look at it.

Here is the thing though... did you know what Youtube overtook Google as the #1 source of traffic on the web recently?

Did you also know that statistics show in 2 years 90% of web traffic will be video?

Instead of looking at the negative, look at the opportunity.

Video is the future, so you might as well go with the times.

In fact, why don't you go out there and outrank those 3 videos? When you do, you will have the confidence to keep going.

I know you can do it, but do you?

I understand the value per lead, it's just that I base my business models around putting those numbers in there and then charging on a monthly basis.

I.e. if the CPC is $20/click and my video gets 10 clicks per day, I would charge $3000-4000/month for those leads on a monthly basis.

Essentially the value proposition is that the CPC ends up being 10-14 instead of 20.

      Win-Win

Yeah hit me up on Skype

Hey man, you got to remove "OMG" from your headline.

That fat guys video has a better optimized title. :p

Also, his video is 8 months old, has about 260,000 views, yours is 7 months old and has about 75,000 views.

I know the importance of high retention views and backlinks. However, I still believe google factors in avg views/month, and right now, his video is killing you in that respect. It might be easy to game YT for a #1 ranking, but not so easy with google imo. I realize YT is owned by google, but I still believe google has higher standards for showing videos in the SERPS.

For example, I have many videos ranking between spots 2-5 on youtube, that rank #1 in google because my view rating is exponentially higher than my competitors.

And what happens is my view count CONTINUES to grow JUST BECAUSE the video shows up in the SERPs. Something tells me you can build as many backlinks as you want, but without more views you're never going to secure page 1 of google. Because the last 3 times I have checked, I have seen his video on page 1 of google, not yours.

If I was you, I'd optimize the title, and do a 2 month drip feed on the video with natural views. I wouldn't even worry about retention views but boosting your overall count instead.

Because whether the views are retention or not, the guy holding the SERPS right now has about 4 times as many views as you do. And I'm sure he's retaining a good portion of them, whether they were paid for or not.

    -Red

ps. If you ever remake a video, I would keep the red spammy links out of the thumbnail.

pss. If you ever remake a video in this niche, I would not use a skinny blonde but a moderately obese one (with a pretty face ). You have to identify with your market, who is most likely fat people searching "how to lose weight" not skinny people. I definitely think a fat person would become a lot more emotional seeing a fat person go from 300lbs - 250lbs rather than a moderately obese fat person going from 180lbs to - 130lbs. Because the end product in the second scenario winds up being a person they can't relate to... or worse, a person they secretely resent.

I don't know all this talk about views Red, I tried that Fiverr gig that you recommended and my video with 8 real views from real people is ranking at page 3 in Youtube and my video with subscribers, likes, comments and retention view is still at page 11.

2 weeks have passed by now and the other video that I did zero promotion for is 3 weeks old, only 1 week more.

You think the 30 seconds difference really makes such huge change? The poor performing video is 37 seconds the other one that is at page 3 is slightly over a minute.

/\ I have never tested anything under a minute so I can't tell you for sure. I have also seen short videos rank, but it seems 95% of the videos on page 1 of youtube AND google, are videos over a minute long. Thats just what I've seen from research.

If it means videos under a minute are harder to rank, again, I wish I did more tests on that.

But even if you search keywords, where short videos would make sense, I still don't see a lot of videos under a minute long.

Stuff like - "how to inflate a tire"
or "how to blow up a balloon"
or "how to hammer a nail"
or "how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich"
    or "how to make ice"

If you keep searching things where you would EXPECT a video under a minute long, you will see that the striking majority of videos on page 1, are over a minute.

Take the phrase "how to inflate a tire".

Just go compare page 1 to page 7 or 8. On pages 7 & 8, you see a much higher volume of videos that are under 1 minute long.

Again, I can't tell you for sure how much it matters.

However, my instincts tell me it does.
Because I have done this with a lot of phrases, where I keep clicking back to like page 20 and beyond, and the further back I go, the more and more I seem to see shorter videos.

I might be crazy, and I've never put this in a graph or ran any stats (I really should one of these days), but from what I've SEEN, it DOES SEEM that shorter videos are discriminated against.

My results after drip feeding views, likes, subscribers on brand new video's. The video's are 0.16-0.25 seconds long

      Current Youtube rankings:

      Keyword 1: #24
      Keyword 2: #240
      Keyword 3: #160
      Keyword 4: #n/a
      Keyword 5: #180

      Current Google rankings:

      Keyword 1: #n/a
      Keyword 2: #n/a
      Keyword 3: #n/a
      Keyword 4: #n/a
      Keyword 5: #n/a

Any thing special here? Yep the video with the kw that matches my domain name exactly is the only one that ranks at the 2nd page of Youtube, and in fact it's also the shortest video of all.

    Hey @TheTruth2011
By telling building backlinks, do you mean traditional backlinking methods like social bookmarking, blog commenting etc? I have seen in another tutorial that -
"when you make comments on other videos in youtube, the comment will appear with the backlinks of your channel where your videos are available. In this way you will be getting backlinks for your videos from the youtrube itself and those backlinks helps the most to get ranking in youtube."
    Is it true?

Yeah I hear ya, all valid points.

When I made this I was just testing, but I agree it could be way better optimized.

Although I would have to disagree with you on the backlinks part.

I specifically tested videos with no views and I managed to rank them 1st on Google.

I can confirm this. Under 1 minute videos don't get ranked as well.

No mental masturbation, just what I have seen.

Although I am very close to ranking a video that is 45 seconds on the first page for a huge keyword. (note: the video is actually awesome and has massive natural retention rate)

      Yup exactly correct, traditional backlinks.

The method you mentioned gets used on my videos all the time. I actually leave the messages there to see how their videos perform.

Usually it's not very effective if done alone. I never see the ppl's videos who comment on mine rank ahead of me.

Although all else being equal, I guess they could help.

I just wouldn't call them my "bread and butter" if you catch my drift.

      Hope that helps

As for the second part of your question, Senuke templates don't cost $1800, the software does.

Second of all, ranking youtube videos isn't all that hard. I mean, there seems to be a problem where google doesn't seem to have the usual triggers to stop youtube videos from ranking.

I don't understand where this is coming from?

The point of the video was to show that video marketing is much different then web SEO and more importantly to show that the "toughest niches" maybe aren't as tough as people thought.

This is not burn and churn and there is a method to what I did.

I am neither spamming any links nor am I selling you anything, so I feel your post was a little un-called for.

If you can provide something of value then be my guest, but please don't come in here insulting me for no reason.

I don't spam my videos, I send a lot of links at appropriate times. Also, never have I said that Senuke provides quality links (although the way I use it is much better then what I see others doing with it - custom settings)

I apologize for over-looking that you had sent views, subs etc., that was my fault, but there is no reason for you to take such offense, I was merely asking a few questions, never did I insult you.

Hope that clears things up a bit

Web SEO vs. Video SEO = vastly different.

I would never do what I do with videos on any of my sites. Completely different rules which is why you see your buddies ranking.

It felt not right, sometimes I'm very sensitive

Anyway, Senuke = Spam, Spam = Senuke, custom settings can't change that I'm afraid. Why? Cause Senuke is only able to post on spammy platforms with maybe a handful of exceptions. Seriously, it's all PR n/a links and back then it posted at somewhat decent sites but update after update they removed the decent sites and came up with secondary platforms.

        Look at what it produces:

        - article directory links, total waste of time
        - forum profile links, total waste of time
        - social bookmarks, but not the top 10 sites, only 2-3 of them work, for the rest it's all low quality bookmark sites
        - web2.0 platforms, hard to find some good ones in their list

So yeah it's building spam up on spam. PR n/a * PR n/a = PR n/a

It can still work, especially when you throw some high PR blog posts in the mix, as it gives a good IP diversity but yeah it is what it is, spam

Your greatest benefit is that you point the links at a huge authority site, a normal site would probably not survive it.

Nice results, i have tried also with one video, and seems that youtube videos are easy to rank. I have start to see results after 5000 live backlinks, and then to built more, but the results rest the same. Maybe just few keywords are going to be ranked.

Your greatest benefit is that you point the links at a huge authority site, a normal site would probably not survive it.
If you use those links then yes thats spam, which is why I focus on web 2.0's, pdf and wiki.

Also, I have always said that web seo is way different then video seo.

After that you can send some bookmarks or link pyramids here and there to boost your video
Hey really appreciate you sharing your method. I'm testing 2 videos of my own now but too early for results. I have a few questions though:

    1. Are the 7000+ backlinks all tier 1 directly to the video? I have around 4000 links built for each video but only ~100 or so first tier.

    2. Do you only use a single keyword anchor text or multiple? I'm using around 8 different related keywords for each video (much more 'natural' like you would do for a website page) but I have doubts about how well this can rank a video on youtube for any given keyword.

Very interested in your answers and I'll get back with my own results, or lack thereof.

Great strategy.. Especially if the video is interesting, it could easily reach thousands of views per month without any work of your own

    Where are you man?

I'm curious about whether you use this technique for affiliate products at all?

I've been blasting a clickbank / youtube video for a few weeks now, blew it up with views, and have gotten 6 sales so far. Its not even on page 1 of google yet.

But the niche is nowhere near as competitive as what you're ranking here.

Logically speaking, if you're ranking keywords like this, you should be banking pretty well. I'm gonna scale up what I'm doing now X50, and see if I can set up a second income with clickbank. For some reason I never realized clickbank was this simple.

Great job on creating videos, most people are too lazy to even do that

      as for your questions

      1) not all my links are tier 1. I have pyramids too, but I do send a LOT to tier 1 as well. (whatever makes sense)

      2) I am aggressive with anchor text's at first, then I diversify them and go after other keywords.

Let us know how you campaigns go, would love to hear it!

      Hey Buddy!

Been busy making it happen man

Those are some great results, but I will warn you that not all clickbank products will convert like that.

Sometimes I see a clear winner and although profitable, it can be under my expectations.

I have done a lot of clickbank, but I love to test different offers all the time too.

P.S. I am finding great results like you mentioned in local as well
