Hello,

I am creating backlinks for my new website on sites with PR5+.

How many links do I need to place to get a PR1 or PR2?

Thank you,
Adrian

How long is a piece of string?

Keep going until you reach PR1

It only takes a few, but more importantly it takes a few months.
Constantly amused by my sites that hit PR2-3 with only a handful of links, after a few months.

Sorry, but you need more patience than backlinks usually for PR 3 or less.

I agree, don't stop building back links. Even if you have a bunch of PR5+, good chance it's going to take alot more than that to get ranked well.

You may have a reason for caring what your PR is, and if so then you can stop reading this answer.

I learned not to care about PR. The only thing I care about is traffic and conversions. PR is merely a by-product of getting backlinks in order to rank well and bring targeted visitors to my sites. If you're smart about the niches and the keywords you pick, you can score high rankings without even paying attention to PR.

    For what it's worth.

    Quit thinking about Page Rank.

Your aim should be to get a higher position in the search
    engine rankings than your competitors.

If the site that is currently occupying position #1 has
500 links, then you will probably need 700.

Page rank is a meaningless number. SE rank means much
    more traffic.

I agreed. I have a PR4 site and yet there is a PR2 site who rank higher than my PR4 site for a particular keyphrase.

Personally I think PR in term of ranking is meaningless.

No one can tell exactly your PR.
You can get PR3 even you only have several links.
You can get PR0 even you have thousands of links.

If you get traffic then PR follows.

PR is just a title. Like most have stated it doesnt gurantee visitors and sales.
It all depends on what you hope to achieve

Building back links in general can boost your SERPs. Go for the SERPs first, the PR is just icing.

You don't really need to stop putting more backlinks until you got the desired PR number you are going for. But do not drowned yourself on high PR cause that is only part of the whole equation.

You can never know when you will get PR1. Anyway, it will depend on the type of backlink you have. The backlinks you get from PR 5 pages, are those comments on blogs? How many outbound links are on those pages? Like these, there are many factors about backlinks that determine the quality of backlinks which directly affect the PR your site will get.
