Is Google causing me to break the law?

So I'm one of the lucky ones who live in a state where I'm not allowed to be an Amazon affiliate because of tax laws. It's disappointing, considering my niche has a number of books that I could sell from my site.

I do, however, run Adsense on my site. I was looking over a few pages on my site, and to my surprise, one of my Adsense ads was showing me an Amazon link to one of the books I'm dying to sell on my site! How is it that Google can get away with running Amazon affiliate ads on my site like that when I live in a non-Amazon affiliate state??

Specifically, can I get in trouble for having those ads on my site since I'm in one of those non-Amazon affiliate states? Or does it not count because I'm not the one getting the commission from the sale? Either way, I just wish I could be an Amazon affiliate.

  • I guess technically you could but if it were me I drive across the state line and get me a PO Box or a friend's place, somewhere else I could use for a addy and get back in business as a amazon associate. No one is gonna come after you.

Google is selling Ad space (Adwords/Adsense), there not an affiliate for Amazon.

    • Yukon, so you're saying Amazon is signed up with Adwords and is advertising through Google on my site? But how do you explain why a specific book in my specific niche shows up on my site in the Adsense ad? I don't think the ad placement tools are that sophisticated in Adwords where it will allow you to do something like this.
