Hi,

Suppose i want y home page to be the main article, then is using article as a static page the right option? I can have the other content as a blog.

or is it better to use the main article as a sticky post, so other posts come below it in snippets?

Which approach is better?

thanks.

  • Hi Gooner,

I'd like to help you but with India smashing the Aussies in the test match right now...

I don't know the correct answer from an SEO point of view in terms of which is better, I'm sure someone will come along with some analysis though. I would imagine it wouldn't make enough of a difference to focus on it too much.

I'd take the approach of what makes the most sense for the site you're building and how you want people to interact with it when they land on the homepage. It's one thing to optimize for search engines but it can be more important to optimize for conversions.

I hope that helps a little and that it rains for the rest of the cricket.

    • Thanks Paul, but I'm clueless about cricket. I did not even know a match is being played. Ever since the fixing scandals hit the sport a decade back, I quickly lost any little interest I had in it.

Yeah i do agree. It's just that sometimes I tend to focus on these trivial things a lot more than I should. But Andrew Hansen said something regarding this in his affiliate course, so i don;t want to ingnore it either.

  • I think, as has been mentioned, that you need to look at how the site is going to be used. Do you want people to see other links to posts on your site, or do you want them to concentrate on your home page, and hopefully click on a link?

Whichever method you're using (sticky post or static page) won't have much difference to the SEO, apart from how it might affect the click-through rate, and the bounce rate. But then again, it depends what you want people to do once they've read your main page/article.

    best wishes,

    Jon.
