Hello friends I have started a new ecommerce website. I know some SEO but it is not enough to rank well for some good keywords. Also 3-4 months of time is required for organic ranking. My friends suggests me to use PPC for fast results. As my budget is low so which is the best way to get traffic. I can continue investing some money in PPC if there is enough sale. My budget is $400-$500

Actually It depends. You can simply spend a little amount to see if there is enough sale.

      My 50 cents are:
invest in PPC first. make sure you make the best campaign you can and only then activate it.

While the campaign is running, give it all you can with the SEO.

Do both, basic SEO is free so why opt for one over the other? However, as long as you do PPC correctly it's highly effective for e-commerce websites - the higher priced your products the better. Just make sure to use a small budget while you learn the ropes as it's easy to burn your money.

After doing PPC marketing since June last year, I highly recommend it. Especially if you want traffic fast to make some sales! (Then reinvest the money)
It does take alot to get use to as you need to learn to write good ad copies, have targeted keywords, learn how to track (most important thing). You also need to watch your money at all times as you can lose it fast, so tweaking is a must.
Start with BingAds, me and my students have had nothing but good results from it. If you need any help let us know! Set your budget to around $10 a day just to get the hang of it. Bing Intelligence is a great tool that you must download for KW research. And its FREE!.

    Good luck!

I have no knowledge of to run PPC Campaigns. But People talk that using banner ppc can be very effective as well as low cost and in eCommerce, we can target product name as keywords which may have low bid. I tried adwords 6 months before and within few days my account got banned due to some policy violation. I think i definitely need help.

If you have a good site and a lot of products with original description + data ( at least 300 words ), the visitors from search engine will come directly on your product pages. Building up SEO for you home page will be easier because all the internal products where people will link to will give the value to the homepage. You can think of something like this for long term.

However, since you have a conversion rate and a value for every conversion, it is easy to find out how much money do you make for every visitor that is coming to your site. If you have decent profit margin for your products you will be able to buy targeted traffic for 0.10 dollars, Buying traffic will help you to get more orders, to get clients talking about you on social networks and linking to you. You can upsell your customers and earn more in the long run, but for the moment you need to be at break even. Unlike most blogs where every visitor worth no more than about 2 cents, if you get those 10 cents then you are good to go with PPC from the second one. If you wait for the seo traffic to come you may wait too much and I bet that there are other costs involved in your ecommerce business.

both cost $, yes seo is NOT free, anyone who says so is silly. On an ecommerce site you have to do both, ppc to get in the top3, fighting tooth and nail for that position, while you try to slowly build up your organic rankings.

Most definitely both. I promote local businesses and earn commissions. The offers convert well so I profit from PPC alone and SEO is pure gravy. Some people click ads and other people click the organic listings. You might as well take up as much search engine real estate as possible.

Many businesses don't do SEO, so with a lower customer acquisition cost you can sell for less or earn more profit (or both).

Note, my SEO is not free. I pay for it and monitor ROI carefully. Generally, though it's very profitable, even paying for quality service providers who don't charge basement prices.

It all depends on your tracking ability, track which keyword, product giving you money and go with that, start with a little and spend slowly if you see result.

Well, PPC & SEO both are diferent from each other...But the motive of both things is same "Improving Website Keyword Ranking)... PPC is Paid & SEO is not paid... Both provides traffic & website ranking, what is important for any website to rank well in all over the search engines..
But i would suggest SEO because its free and it is more affective then ppc in business point of view .
Thanks you all for sharing good information,
    Best regards,
    Aaron.

I think seo is best if you just started your business after getting exposure to your keywords which are working and which are not you can run ppc campaigns. This way risk of loosing money is less but off course, it will be time consuming .

PPC will work fine if your margins are high on sales. If you're only going to be making $20 per sale then I wouldn't recommend PPC over SEO.

If you're in ecommerce, I'd highly recommend Product Listing Ads on Adwords...it's a little tricky to set them up, so clicks are usually cheaper due to barriers to entry for other advertisers.

And they usually convert better than standard text ads as well.

I would do both. The company I work for (a multi-million dollar company) does both. They were doing PPC for a while, and now they just implemented SEO to increase traffic. They realized how much traffic they're losing and their competition is zero to none but yet not ranked cause there's no on-page and off page SEO.

In case of eCommerce website branding is very essential. If your brand has become more popular your site will automatically get a lot of referral traffic. Building links for the product listing page and ranking them can improve organic traffic and leads. Doing PPC for competitor keywords can also improve your business.

As My Experience, The Paid Services Are Helpful Source To Get Results In A Short Time But It Effects On Cost Badly As Compare To SEO. If You Have Enough Budget, Then You Should Start PPC, CPC Otherwise, Search Engine Optimization Is The Best Tool In This Regard.
