Realistic PPC Budget for Newbie to PPC

I have been around on this forum for quite a while now and had limited successes as a "Bum marketer" .. Now it is time for me to get serious and try to earn some real income in order to subsidize my upcoming retirement.

I have in the past tried adwords following a so called Guru's advice and subsequently had my account shut down by google ..no appeal allowed... but thats another story, so i guess I am left with the options of Bing/yahoo and facebook.

I do understand that it depends largely on my keywords etc, but any advice on setting a realistic budget for a months campaign would be very helpful.

Many thanks.

Graham

Are you trying to reapply to adwords?

There is no answer to your question.

You will have to find out how much a click costs,
and how many clicks you can afford in one time frame.

I know that's stating the obvious...

Once started, you will need to see what words got clicks,
got sales, etc., narrow that down with as much money
as you can afford to lose. Yes lose. It's a betting game.

Eventually, you will either decide you don't have enough money,
or you are making enough money to be as profitable as
        you need.

        Again, stating the obvious.

There really is no set amount. That's up to you and your wallet.

If you are not prepared to lose money at first while testing, or
just cannot afford to test long enough, well, cut your losses.

Only you know the limits of your budget. You cannot do
adwords successfully, (for the most part) by thinking bum
        marketing.

The payoff is huge. Not only could you find the right keywords
at the right price, but the higher your QS goes, the LESS you
will pay to be #1, upping your ROI.

And that's the bottom line of all bottom lines:ROI.

Everyone will have a different level of money to budget.

Personally, I've found Bing easier to get a campaign profitable than Facebook. Facebook is a very different beast and hugely profitable if you get something working. But it can suck you dry just as easily, imho.

Your budget will depend on CPC (as you're aware), the number of keywords you want to test and your payout amount.

Many people will advise testing to 2-3x your payout amount. So, if your offer pays $10 you test each keyword by spending $30. Times $30 by the 100 keywords you're testing and your budget is $3k.

If your budget is tight, work backwards. Limit your campaign to your daily spending limit and test keywords slowly. Decide on the amount you're prepared to spend per keyword and stick to it. Be patient if you're going slowly and don't get too attached to any keyword or idea. If it passes it's test budget, kill it.
