One of my site has been decimated by the update three days ago. Anyone knows how to recover from it? Cannot figure out if it is a Panda refresh or Penguin attack.

What kind of link building tactic you using?
    How good is your content?

You can't really take any action now without knowing exactly what your problem is.

Take the time to run some studies and use Google disavow to get rid of the bad neighbors.

Ive got the same problem with a couple of my sites.
Best thing to do at the moment is just wait and see if they bounce back over the next 2-3 weeks or so.
By that time it will be a lot clearer what has been penalised.

You can't fix things till you know what's broken

ATM i'm starting to drive traffic in other ways and working to reduce my reliance on Google and then this wont be such a problem again.

Im also starting to build more sites in what i now know are profitable niches. One thing i'm trying not to do is keep on checking my rankings it's just not a profitable use of anybodys time..

My site dropped 50% of it's traffic starting the 6th. I will also say that I moved both of my sites to other domain names because of a change of focus in my business goals. That maybe what is happening with my sites. Both of the old sites had PR 3 for what it is worth and with the 301 redirects that seemed to have carried over for the 4 months the new sites have been live. At least until Tuesday.

But poking around today some think there maybe another roll out happening. I also found an interesting tidbit though I have not been able to verify it. According to a couple of sources Google announced that they will now be ranking sites with verified medically educated people over those who are not medically trained. This could also be affecting me as my sites concern muscle and soft tissue information. But then again, I am a licensed massage therapist with 10 years of experience and countless hours of advanced training in muscle injury and rehab.

I am beginning to think this might be true as other MT sites that were ranking well have also tanked. So have other holistic type sites that offer information on alternative med.

Sorry, just needed to vent. I am going to keep updating my sites and see what happens. That is all we can do until we know for sure what is happening.

Affected sites are really very hard to recover, it would be good if you start a fresh site.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm trying to figure out if this is a Panda or Penguin refresh so I will know what to fix. It has to be a Panda one because I haven't done extensive link building and most of it is organic. The site was hit once with EMD update but recovered on all other keyword except the primary keyword after which it was named. In the last few days, ironically it had started recovering on its primary keyword but has now tanked on all others. I will wait it out for next two weeks as suggested, I don't have any spun content. We are a car dealer so it is all specifications of vehicles but since specs of a particular car will be similar across different vendors website, duplication of content is unavoidable. I cannot have a different spec for Toyota Hilux Vigo or Landcruiser 200 than my competitor. Google Bot probably does not make exception for this unavoidable duplication.

Have you SEEN the sites listed in your signature?

Of course they are going to be penalized by Panda!

      ...

      And Penguin for keyword stuffing.

You're going to have to do a 180 turn in the way you build sites!

One of my main websites tanked too. Weird seeing as my other sites weren't affected and they use exactly the same back-link strategies.

Waiting to see what will happen in the next week or so with the Panda refresh.

What does your backlinking strategy look like? If you have a lot of spammy links going to a tier 1 backlink then remove the tier 1 backlink and hope the tier 1 was penalized rather than your money site.

Otherwise it's usually easier to start over rather than trying to recover. Sometimes if you leave the site alone it'll recover its ranking naturally after a few months.
