Can you get an adsense account back once it has been shut down by Google?

Hello,
A while ago I had my adsense account shut down and all my sites suddenly had big gaping holes on their pages. Later there became a more significant gaping hole in my monthly income statements.
I'm wondering - is there any way to get the account back from the dead or do I just leave it altogether looking for other ways to earn online income? Im'm not keen on creating false personalities and bank accounts etc to con Google into thinking I am someone else so they will accept a new account that filters money into my bank account indirectly.
Anybody had any joy in resolving this issue for themselves?
