Most of the time, you actually do not have to do any work for your site to get indexed.

Just make sure you have a sitemap for your website. This is easily done via a plugin in wordpress. (if you are using wordpress that is)

For faster results you can also submit your site in Google Webmaster Tools.

Yep a sitemap, ping your site, set up a google + profile and link your site, all these will help but as someone said you really don't need to do much at all to get your site indexed.
Oh and make sure that you have your privacy set correctly if you are using WordPress!

You need to have a sitemap ready to submit.

yes, submit an xml sitemap in Webmaster tools but you won't necessarily get all of your pages indexed. If you can build backinks to your pages this will help.
