Hello,
This query is regarding ALEXA Reputation.
My website reputation numbering was "718" in ALEXA, the problem I am facing is this that the numbering is gradually decreasing and now this numbering turns to "489". I want to ask;
1; why this numbering is decreasing.
2; how to maximize this numbering.
3; and last, what is ALEXA algorithm behind this?
I am waiting for the quick response by member here.

Thank you.

There two "major" ranks that Alexa displays: (1) Traffic Rank, and (2) Reputation, a.k.a. domain-level backlinks.

Neither is particularly accurate, but it's become a very popular way of establishing a site's "popularity".

The traffic rank is based on reports fed to Alexa from individual Alexa Toolbar users. Hence a sampling of all Internet users who use the toolbar is what gives Alexa an idea of how popular a given site is. It extrapolates from that what it thinks the traffic might be - and ranks it.

A similar principle is used when analyzing links - basically a statistical assessment.

Both can be looked at as no more than a qualified guess. All it takes for you to establish that is to have a bunch of sites and monitor their Alexa ranks. Typically fresh sites have traffic estimates which are "roughly" in the right ballpark, while older sites can be wildly off. Additionally, major sites will have more accurate predictions than smaller sites.

I have a few sites with Alexa rank above 1M with traffic in excess of 100,000 per month, while a couple other sites with Alexa rank around 100,000 get only about half that traffic. But other than that there IS a correspondence between rank and traffic, albeit rather tentative.

As for those incoming links - you'll never get the true picture from any external site, other than perhaps Google Webmaster Tools, and even there you'll have a margin of error. I actually tend to use Majestic SEO : Backlink Checker & Site Explorer for my backlinking reports.

    Hope this helps.

        Less alexa rank is better.

I dont find any use of Alexa in ranking or branding. There is no sense in thinking about it and better carry on with some quality work.

The less alexa ranking is the good. See google has an alexa 1 (or 2). It means it is the most popular site. If your rank decreased, it means the site popularity got increased. But it is also said that alexa ranks a website by fetching the data through alexa tool bars. Just install an any alexa toolbar if you want to get higher ranking.

Same with mycongme, I don't use Alexa.
I am focus more on my SEO efforts, and if there is anything that I need to keep on track with I use google and its tools instead. I suggest you forget about it and focus more on improving your overall SEO efforts. Don't use Alexa as a basis or to dictate you with your site's status. If you want numbers use analytics, and analyze whats need to be improved.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

    What's your excuse?
