How can I earn the most using google adsense?

I am in the process of making a media website with a friend and we aren't to sure how google adsense works. The website will have videos, music, forums, and eventually a store but we want to gain profit from our hard work. How can I use google adsense to its full potential and earn a couple bucks?

    If you find 'high paying' keywords and can drive targeted traffic to your site, then you could make quite a lot of money. It can be a hard slog though. As I said though, you need to find the keywords that pay $1+ rather than 5 cents plus, and then you need to build focused content around those keywords.

      Experiment with the position of your ads. This can double or even triple your clickthru rates.

      Many people find that thy get better results with ads that are higher on the page and towards the left because it is very difficult for visitors to miss them. But you should experiment. It will depend on the other content of your site.

      At the very least you should ensure that your ads are above the fold.

    all you need is a lot of valuable ( american and british) traffic..
    seriously.. gone are the days when u needed to find high paying keywords.. these days, all keywords pay pretty damn good.. as long as the traffic is targetted from those countries

      He is right. Try to get traffic from developed countries as many advertisers geo-target their Ads for these regions and pay good CPC as the competition is good among the advertisers targeting those regions.

    Optimize your ads. Use different ad placements and use different ad units and see which combination gives you the best CTR. The higher CTR you will have, the more money will you earn from adsense.

    Also, targeted traffic is all one need to earn good via adsense. Most targeted traffic comes from search engines, so try to optimize your sites to get organic traffic.

    Use the hotspot, usually near center and the format 300Ã--250 & 336Ã--280.
    Use original content (articles) with targeted long tail keywords.

      It can be hard to balance SEO with an existing site (or one where you have firm plans in place).

      Yes you need to do some keyword research. Yes you need to optimise each page for your target keywords. But, you also have to take your objective into account. It maybe that the content you're placing on your site won't earn big Adsense revenue, (this is something you'll need to look into - check out my recent post).

      Are you planning to build a great site that will eventually target the masses or are you creating the site simply to earn from it via advertising?

      Adsense is a very easy method of creating or adding a revenue stream but don't limit yourself. Look around for affiliate programs also, these can be more lucrative on the right subject matters.

      It may be worth doing some split testing - try combinations or adsense on some pages - affiliate ads on others.

    The key to your income is the volume of targeted traffic that you bring to your site. If you bring targeted traffic then you can achieve a CTR of 10% or more and start counting your money.

      You might also want to consider mixing in Chitika ads with your Adsense ads. The combining of the two seems to work well for some, actually generating a bit more income than Adsense by itself.
