Wordpress Permalink Issue: Date, 301, Canonical

Guys... I changed the url of my iphone app developers page: http://sparkah.com/2013/03/08/experi...-to-get-burnt/

to

iPhone App Programmers Developers in NYC LA SF Reveal 10 Dangers of…

But when I go back up to the first link... it doesn't auto redirect to the 2nd.

Shouldn't it?

I also tried creating a brand new post under the later DATE using the same url but wordpress AUTOMATICALLY changed my url by adding a "-2" to the end.

Anybody know how to make the top link auto fwd AND tell google to 301 to the 2nd url?

  • UGH... the java parser in WF converted my link into the title...

    i'm trying to make
    site.com/2013/10/31
    301 to
    site.com/2010/1/29
  • technically... since the dates are all just placemarkers and the URLs following the dates MUST be unique... shouldn't all date variables just 301 redirect to one www???
  • i figured it out... you have to modify your 301s AND your .htaccess file.

    the code is tricky. let me know if you need help.
