Question about keywords and headings

Using tags as keywords is probably meaningless. People used to use these a long time ago. But they carry very little importance these days.

Heading tags are important. Use at least an H1 tag on every page and include your keyword in that heading. Some people say it's important to use H2/H3 tags. i don't and don't seem to have any issues. I can't see it hurting though unless you use your keyword too often on the page (called over optimization).

Your keyword for a page should be what you want people to type into Google when looking for that page. Look up the Google AdWords keyword tool and learn how to use it if you don't already. You can find out roughly how many times a keyword is searched for (use the Exact settings in the tool). So whatever the keyword is, use that exactly in your page. There are more advanced strategies related to using variations of the keyword but at this point I'd just keep it simple.

Choose a keyword. Include it in the H1 headline (you can have additional words before or after the keyword). Use the keyword 2 or 3 times on your page. And you should be good.
