Fresh Content - Requirements?

Are there any requirements to 'Fresh Content'?

I usually write a weekly blog entry about a related topic of no more than 500 words, but it's only really increased the amount of spam messages I get on a daily basis.

Is there a certain amount of words I should be aiming for?

Does keeping a website fresh mean adding new blog posts or literally changing the website content?

Is there a certainly amount of information that should be on a webpage?
For example, my home page is about 250 words long with some links and a few images to my content, should it be more?

    It is well to write a blog post a week for a fresh blog. I do the same, and the traffic increases.
    My blog too gets a lot of spam comments as it becomes more popular, so its not a new thing. Disable the instant approval system, if enabled.

    I actually use the spam messages i get as a indicator of how well im doing the more spam the better obviously it aint gonna get on website

    Ha! So what would a decent seo friendly article look like?

    I mean, I had a comment from a guy called 'Simon Riley' and now I Rank on page 1 of Google for the term 'Simon Riley'. HOW! WHY!

    Is there a guide on how to write a great blog entry?

    NOTE: I know how to write and I usually can create some good content.
    But apparently, I'm not very good at optimizing my posts for search engines.

    Always have the comments set up so you have to either approve or delete them. Then you can delete the spam

    My common blog post is about 300-400 words of UNIQUE content and then when submitting it to directories, article directories, social bookmarking sites, etc. I always rewrite it // Yes, it takes time, but this will asure that everything will be OK with SEO

      Hey! I'm kind of new to all of this, but I usually write around the same word count. But I do have questions:

      1. How can I tell the content is actually 'Unique'?
      2. What does Google rate as 'Good Content'.
      3. What kind of Directories can I submit my content to? I've never submitted anything before and have no idea where to start!

    fresh content depends on the niche, as matt the idiot has said the googlebot looks for.

    if your site is about the android operating system, then yes weekly updates are necessary.

    if your site is about the state of having a fully operational android... then few if any updates, unless you're skynet.

      I like to write a blog post once every 3-4 days. The best thing to do once you have published it, then you can get some free backlinks.

      Make YouTube videos and link them to your new post and its the same with making slideshows, send them to slideshare and link back ton your page. Same with podcasts, articles and blog commenting.

      I have seen my blogs authority increasing a lot now and each time I write a new blog post, it ends up ranking in the top 3 pages for low competition 1000+ searches.

      Once you see it ranking in the top 5 pages, go and do a bit more blog commenting and leave good positive feedback about other blogs content and add your full page URL, into the "website" box. This links straight to your page you want to rank. I found this works after doing it will a low comp keyword of mine.

      Then just write guest posts and so on and link them to your page you want to rank for. Also update your Facebook and Twitter pages and link to your inner page to let your followers see your new post.

      Doing this might get your followers to read your new post a "like" the page with Facebook and so on. Social media is now a ranking factor.

    There's no min/max word count for ranking a page. If it was that easy I would post an entire encyclopedia on my Index page/s.

    in terms of length I would look at pages that rank well for the keywords you are targeting with your content and see what they're length is like, I'd say that 250 is low but I guess it depends on the competition, I usually aim for 1000-1500

    250 words article is minimum requirement..

    Also, your content should look natural, so posting all the articles of 250 words doesn't look natural.... so you have to think of this.

    You should include all lengths articles if possible..

    Seriously, you guys should step outside of the article writing dream state & experience how the internet works.

    I rank pages everyday with very little on-page text (besides internal link anchor-text). I'm talking a sentence, maybe a short paragraph description per page.

    I keep seeing threads from people that act like they don't like writing yet they want a lot of text on thousands of pages, even on pages/domains they don't own (silly).

    If your a real writer, hats off to you, keep doing what you enjoy, but to be writing for the sake of SEO is one fiverr gig away from being forced to work a 9-5 job. Personally I think writing blows.
