Ok, I am really getting tired of my host. Its host monster and I have been with them for the past 4 years now. And while it started out great, for the past year or so, it seems like every other day they have some issues. I see my site being done over and over again.

What do you guys recommend beside the big 5-6 companies (i.e. host monster, bluehost, hostgator.... I am not sure, but I heard that they are all under one parent company. So, I really don't want to mess with them.)?...

I did look at WPEngine, but their price for what I need is about $100 a month. Thats a bit too steep for 1 site. I could go with their $29 plan that allows for one site, but I have 25 other sites and I like to have the option of adding a few more if I have to one day.

I would appreciate any recommendation based on personal experience. Thanks.

I use Hostgator, I've never seen my site down (other than my own fault). Support is pretty darn good, before/after/during the sale.

Tip, only use the Hostgator live chat, they're very fast at responding/helping.

One time I screwed up my MySql database, I asked the live chat tech for help, they fixed it within a few min. (maybe 10 min.) once I explained what I was trying to do.

I don't usually give recommendations but HG is good (IMO).

if you know you don't need a vps for your site/s cuz you're doing so much traffic, hostgator is really good.

for vps of course don't use hostgator, have heard neg reviews on that end.

Hostgator has been really good for me. Helped me a lot via support when i was starting and totally confused. My sites are always up. And they are cheap.
      What more could you want

I'd have to agree about hostgator, never down, fast service and nothing is ever a nuisance to them, they have excellent customer service which is what you need when things start going wrong.

Hostgator is awesome. Best support and cpanel is insanely simple compared to other ones I've had experience with.

If you run many mini sites then HostGator's shared hosting works good.

What is the reason for your site going down? Are you reaching limits on your hosting account or is it that the entire server you are on is going down? Before making any recommendations on going with another shared hosting solution I just want to make sure of the ultimate cause of your downtime.

No, I don't think its me reaching my hosting limit. I have seen lots of other site owners complain about their sites being down on the same days as min many many times when checking on IsItDownRightNow and other similar sites.

Well that's a good sign that you will not have any problems if you move your site to a better plan.

WP Engine is only known because pays high affiliate commissions, not because it's necessarily good. It seems expensive to me, too.

Same for HG. It's a lousy EIG company, only used here because of $$$, not because it's any good. Hostmonster, Bluehost, Hostgator ... and about 50 others ... all EIG brands.

So let's look at what you actually want and need.

I used somewhere near 100 hosts through the years. Without knowing more, my first suggestions would be for EuroVPS and Stablehost.

    Good luck!

      Please.

What else do you need from a host besides:
      • Easy to use.
      • Awesome support.
      • Affordable prices.
      • Uptime is great.

      HG. Done.

What do you suggest if we need real good hosting and not semi- real good hosting, seriously Yukon, Hostgator is also down way too often.

Heck I even rented dedicated servers 2 years ago for other purposes though and although they claim 99.9% uptime, even those are down on regular basis.

It's like budget hosting can't be good, same as with most budget things.

It's ridiculous how many people at WarriorForum only seem to know fake "top 10" hosts.
They are wholly unaware of the real hosting industry, it seems.

Some of these folks need to visit webhostingtalk.com (WHT) for an eye-opener.

Because they're using slow, overloaded (oversold), throttled hosts.

Indeed, Crocweb is a good one.
In the same vein as Stablehost, MDD Hosting, and Hawkhost.

I have Crocweb (about 6 weeks so far), Stablehost (5 months) and Hawkhost (little over a year) shared plans too. Happy, no problems at all with any of them. MDD hosting is on my list of hosts to try down the line.

Maybe HG is profiling you, lol (j/k)?

I guess hosting is sort of like affiliate accounts, some folks never have a problem, others it just wasn't meant to be...

All I know is my HG hosted sites are up & they've been up for years.

I'm using hostgator from last 2 year and my site has never been down. however sometime it become slow, but it happen on shared hosting. It's good, hosting almost 3,4 sites with alot of plugin so i think you should buy hostgator hosting.

Your topic is very similar to mine, do NOT use 123 Reg. WordPress doesn't work properly!
It's constantly out of memory and is limited by concurrent processes.
