Yes it's still safe, but got hit as you may know and are being literally stalked by Google, lol... so i wouldn't recommend you use it

Sape being hit is still a rumor at this stage. If you know otherwise please link to a reputable source. Otherwise, stop spreading this rumor.

Cutts did Tweet that they were looking into a "naughty Russian link network". That much is true. There are still plenty of people out there ranking and banking hard with Sape.

Yes, it is true that the network is on Google's radar and they may take action at some point in the future. Until then, the people who understand the risks are making money.

I wouldn't advise using Sape links on your long term projects, but when used in a churn and burn strategy you can make a good ROI (especially if you are buying the links direct).

Sape works for now. I have a number of projects sitting at number one thanks to Sape (and a whole lot of SPAM). I also have white hat projects that I wouldn't touch with Sape links with a ten foot pole.

All types of link building as its associated risks. Understanding these risks and deploying each link in the appropriate strategy is what it is all about.

I fully agree with Bambu on this! To be more precise Matt Cutts said the following:

So, it's a Russian software, not a network. The past month proved is as no sape linked projects have lost any positions. On the contrary, I even succeeded in improving the lost positions of one of my clients via sape. So, this info it's just a rubbish rumor.

Another interesting info on the penalty transmission subject can be found here: Do Links From Penalized Websites Transfer Penalties? | SAPE.RU Network Solutions. Link devaluation, as unpleasant as it is, don't harm seriously projects that receive hundreds or even tens of good links per day.

          That article is hugely biased.

I'm not going to argue whether or not SAPE works. I know as far as results, it certainly can work.

However, as Bambu said, it should never be used for any long term plans. I would only use such schemes on sites I did not care about at all and was willing to lose.

That being said, I still never would use SAPE. They are selling links from sites that have been hacked. The webmasters have no idea they have been hacked and now have links on their site.

Karma's a bitch, and that bitch is mean.

How is that safe? Safe for what?

OP you are like the guy trying to catch up with the Titanic in a rowboat: Wait for me!! You should talk to niko he has a new alternative to SAPE if thats the kind of links you are after

A Russian network of hacked sites?

Sounds like a winning SEO formula to me!

    Lettuce be cereal:

Penguin really drew a line between black hat and white hat.

Like Mike said, SAPE isn't something you'd want to learn if you want your site to last.

However, I do have a few contacts in the Ukraine and they say that over there, SEO=SAPE.

So it must work...at least temporarily.

It's been on the market since 2006.

      Current SAPE stats:
      • 511 592 users
      • 659 754 websites
      • 545 115 032 pages

In the former Russian federation over 90% of links in SEO come from SAPE.RU. Your contacts' info is correct, Backlinko. More info on sape can be found in this article I wrote: What is Sape.ru? | SAPE.RU Network Solutions. Lots of Russian language everywhere, so some English stuff should be welcome, right?

One thread was not enough? Or was this thread created for
spammers to spam their links....check the sigs...and now
you know the rest of the story.

SAPE? Give me a friggin' break.

SAPE or not SAPE; if the networks sold many OBL and crowded, those are considered not future proof for me.

I just wanna tell you that most of the links in the signature are trash and/or a trap to make you pay!

Put it this way. Do you want to risk the future of your business (or businesses) on a link building strategy that may or may not be under the "Google microscope"?

SAPE links definitely work. In fact I'm seeing them more often in my competitors link profiles but it's not something that I would use because I think Google will be after these link providers (sooner or later) and these links are quite expensive. There are cheaper alternatives to SAPE out there.

SAPE will eventually fall, and you'll fall along with it. Simple.

Just got back from a #BrightonSEO. I was given room 404 in the hotel I stayed at. Couldn’t find it anywhere!

I am guessing Google are probably just making a list of all the sites in SAPE and then there will be banwave day when they have enough sites on the list. No way will they do it one site at a time, it would give the game away and SAPE would change tactics. I can sense the SAPE penalty hammer is coming, what I wonder though is if they will penalise the people using SAPE as well as the sites with the SAPE links on them.
