Natural Link Building is key for organic SEO. Website owners want to earn a high rank in Google.Natural link building is all about popularity of your website naturally, you don't have to do link building if you want to do natural link building, what you can do is provide useful content and it would get popularity, other would also like to link to you, this is natural.

    Natural link building doesn't really exist, we can try to simulate it though by:

    - having links from many different IP's
    - links from different type of sites
    - contextual and non contextual
    - dofollow and nofollow links
    - sites that the masses of normal people use, Blogging platforms, Facebook, Twitter etc.
    - a wide anchor profile where the url as anchor dominates
    - a somewhat spread back link profile, not 1000 links 1 day and then a year nothing
    - mentions of the site, without explicitely using a hyper link, think about local listings for example

    That would make it somewhat natural.

    it is a good marketing term to use for your clients, if you want to seem more "whitehat" (which in itself is a lie)

      It is also important to keep on building links and not to stop after a month or so. Lots of people start out well with their link building efforts, they build out a natural looking link pattern for a months or several month and then the stop. You need to keep on building links at a steady pace.

    Natural link building is a silly concept (imho) if you think that by just producing great content the traffic will flow. Sure, write great content and hope people will link to you but why would you leave your success or failure up to chance?

    If you are a small business with a website Google expects you to promote it, to not promote your business would be unnatural, not to mention stupid.

    For the sake of those that can't be bothered reading Google's own documentation and would rather speculate on hear-say, I've included the following excerpt.

    'Google understands that you'd like to let others know about the hard work you've put into your content. Effectively promoting your new content will lead to faster discovery by those who are interested in the same subject.'

    The caveat to this is 'taking these recommendations to an extreme could actually harm the reputation of your site.'

      There's natural, then there's link building.

      In most cases, 'natural' would mean you never rank because no one ever sees your page in the first place to even give you a backlink, no matter how valuable it is.

    According to Google, building your own links is unnatural and possibly Blackhat as they expect good content to be linked organically (i.e. sites linking to you instead of you whoring yourself out to the Internet).

    I don't buy this for one second. That's like starting a "bricks and mortar" business without any advertising. Basically, suicide in my opinion.
