A Question on Duplicate Content Issue

Hi,

I would like your opinions on an issue I am facing with a client website.

While all else is fine on the site, there is one page which might create a duplicate content issue. This is how it goes:

There is a section called White Papers on the site which leads to a page that has four different tabs in it. You can click on any of the tabs to reveal its content. Whenever you click ont he tab, the URL changes accordingly. The problem, however, is that the title of the page is the same on all four tabs- "White Papers" in H1.

Will that be too much of an issue? I have considered a few possiblities like changing "whitepapers" to "whitepapers - tab content" for each of the tabs but each tabbes section already has a subheading to it so it would appear to be repetitive. Moreover, I can not alter the page design as the client is strictly against it.

There are some other issues as well that have now left me wondering whether i should just leave it alone the way it is. Or is it going to be too much of a problem with duplicate content issue? Is H1 still as relevent for deciding page content?

Would love your suggestions/feedback on this.

Update: OK, i did some more testing and searched Google for site:sitename.com "white papers" and I noticed Google is returning all four tabbed pages with their links. So does that mean I can take it to be the fact that all is fine and Google is able to make the distinction between the pages?

It's not a duplicate content issue.
I would propose that you should/would have already
      known that.

If the title and h1 are the same not a problem
if done right. I do like to have different h1's, however,
as that more likely signals to that specific page.

But, again, no problem if done right. Large sites
using a good CMS do that all the time, especially if
creating html pages on the fly.

Well, thanks, Paul, for your inputs... I kinda feel the same way, it shouldn't have any impact ideally. Just wanted to get second opinions anyway..

There's no problem with that at all. You should be fine.

If you can change title tags to be unique for each URLs i think will be better.
