Google Keyword Question

So I am looking at a key word list for home decor. I filtered the list to get rid of crap, and I realized I don't understand what the columns mean. I get this;

So my question is, what does Google Search mean, and local monthly mean.

These are decent paying AdSense clicks at those prices, but while the competition shows high for search, I saw no ads when I looked these up, so I am hesitant to use them. Why does it show high competition, and no ads appear? I am just a bit confused at what GKT is showing me.

  • Global Monthly Searches = average searches per month over a 12 month span for the entire world
    Local Monthly Searches = average searches per month over a 12 month span for a particular country

    When you use the Google Keyword Tool, you can set the country (or location) in the filters. So, if yours is set at the US, then the local monthly searches basically shows the averages searches per month from the US.

    Google Search Network shows how many users have been searching for that particular keyword on just the Google Search Network. This network basically consists of Google and its partners.
