Hi,

I have a few sales pages ad sqeeze pages that are not home pages. On my home page i want to eventually start a blog when my list of subscribers goes up and i feel it's owrth putting efforts into.

Right now the optimize press page shows up as home page. So how can i deindex this? and does preventing the homepage from being indexed affect the seo of other pages?

I don't think that you can use robots.txt to only block the homepage from being indexed. However, you can move the homepage to yourwebsite.com/home and redirect anyone who is visiting your homepage to that link. Then use robots.txt to block that link from being indexed.

Don't prevent the main domain from getting indexed in Google, otherwise your entire site will disappear from SERPs. Alternatively, you can move your home page to yourdomain.com/home and then can prevent it from getting indexed as Watts has mentioned already
