Backlinking Inner Pages

Hi,

Nowadays are people heavily backlinking their inner pages?

More and more when looking at the top 10 for various keywords I am seeing lots of pages with very little backlinks to them ranking but lots of backlinks to the main domain.

As an example, if I had a 10 page site, what sort of ration would people recommend for the main page compared to the inner pages?

Thanks,
Dan

  • Hi Dan,

It's good SEO practice to target multiple KWs per page. Each page should be on-page SEO around 1 main keyword and then 2-4 other related long tail KWs. Create as many pages on your site as needed to cover the main KWs you are targeting and interlink them appropriately. Then backlink all the pages varying the anchor text while a lot of the time using just naked URLs. I tend to backlink all my pages on a site evenly.
  • I would say I backlink my innerpages about 20% of my homepage. Some innerpages get more backlinks than others on my money site. Working good. I do recommend backlinking innerpages.
  • Backlinking inner pages will give some value to your inner pages. Also it will help increase PR of your inner pages.
  • There are some specific reasons why people are concentrating on inner page backlining. Most eminent reason being people want their inner pages to rank on Google results. And without relevant and quality backlink to the inner pages its never going to happen.
Also inner page backlinking is also considered good practice in SEO these days, as it looks more natural to search engines also.

    • Yes.. The sites get more authority when you create backlinks for inner pages. Also it increases the Page authority of those pages.
