  • Guest blogging has always been the best for me.

  • I submit my sites to link directories. I do some blog commenting.

And, I am have started to do some article marketing again. My most recent article is scheduled to be published on SiteProNews.com on Wednesday this week, the 27th.

I was looking at the stats on one of my old sites that I haven't promoted since 2008, and I noticed that the site gets 300 visitors per month, and most of that traffic is coming from articles written in 2006-2007.

I still do guest blogging and a lot of forum posting also.

To a smaller degree, I also do some social media.

    • I would say a combination of things.

      1. High Quality Articles Still Bring Some Amount Of Backlinks Especially When Syndicated across a lot of websites.

      2. High Quality Web 2.0's

      3. Press Releases

      4. Social Bookmarks

      5. Guest Posting

      6. Document Sharing Websites

      7. Private Blog networks (Best if you own them and they are not exposed to the public)

I use all of the above methods and it works pretty well for me.
  • I do some blog commenting and that's about it at the moment, my main site over at EMP seems to have some decent backlinks but its been going for years. I'm setting up some affiliate sites at the mo and wanted to do some gentle backlinking for them

Nice to see no one is promoting spammy stuff BTW

  • A fellow by the name of Dennis, goes by nik0 on WF has been doing great work on one of my sites.
  • If you're sticking with low(ish) competition keywords you aren't going to need to do much to rank. I've been putting more of a focus on trying to target people actually looking to buy a certain product, vs broader traffic.

    Random example:

"Samsung 42LX19 lowest price online" vs "best lcd tvs"

Sure, the traffic is a lot lower. But it has seemed to be converting a LOT better. And they're much easier to rank.

    • If you're able to combine the two then you would make an absolute killing. LCD TV reviews would be very, very hard to rank for on the first page, but if you choose another keyword with a decent search volume then it's very doable. Imagine the combined traffic.

  • I'm not into black hat to be honest, I'm building some affiliate sites and I want them to rank honestly so I don't have to worry about Google updates etc

I quite fancy doing some guest blogging, I guess that would involve targeting relevant blogs and offering my services etc?

Hmm I guess I could do something like that for EMP and stuff though to be fair we don't do too badly for back links on there

Thanks for the suggestions guys, you've given me several ideas

    Kim

  • Build content oriented, thematic contextual links from blogs and content based sites. Don't use exact anchor text to link your pages.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I do social bookmarking,Article submission and blog commenting

    • I don't have the time or the inclination to do article submissions, it's a fate worse than death. (Been there and done it)

  • its not a good idea to get 1 type of links, you should put your efforts on all Off Page activities.
BTW guest blogging on famous blogs give results faster
  • Trying to find common links among your competition is a good start. Divide any potential
candidates up into groups depending on how likely you think you are to achieve the link. Try to spend more effort on the one that you feel likely to pan out. There are some obvious things to rule out like links from sites that appear to have been dead for some time and old news articles/posts. If you run out of good options on your direct competition, you might turn to other places that you don't directly compete with, but that have similar real estate.

Another idea is to try to find some good real estate blogs and write a couple of interesting to read guest posts that you can submit. This method works really well. You offer up interesting content to the blog and in return you get a link back to your site.

  • You can use sites like Digg or Reddit and other bookmarking sites. They are good ways to get people to visit your site and create an instant backlink. It is impotant that your are active on these sites otherwise your sites tend to get boycotted pretty quickly. Try to post your most unique sites on these site.
  • Do guest blogging. Froum posting, Directory submission, Social bookmarking
  • You should have a Diverse Link Profile. Build backlinks from different types of authority sites – Article submission to high quality Directories which have authority and are relevant or are showing up in the SERPs for the keywords that you’re ranking for; Web 2.0 Property, Wiki and Social Bookmarking (contextual links, mix of do-follow and no-follow); Press Release, Blog Posts, Homepage Backlink, Video and Document Sharing, etc.
  • I ranked a site very quickly last year simply by having lots of peoplecsharing it on facebook..... you just need to keep adding content and boy dp press releases work!!!!
