I would like the opinions of my fellow warriors and if any of you have used it with great results.

If you are ranking alone in a niche with zero competition then probably yes, Otherwise you'll need more than PR's..

After submitting Press releases to several directories I can only say that it gives good traffic to my website. I am also writing press releases for my clients. That's a good way to spread a word about your business.

Awesome! a webinar on press releases! what will they think of next?

Hire a good writer to write some press releases for you and then submit to about 10 or so of the top PR sites. This would be a good part of a larger overall strategy...

Save your money, all you really need to know is in the guidelines at prweb.com There's a bunch of great advice and templates to copy here: News Release Distribution - Submit News Releases - PRWeb for free.

It all comes down to the PR of the page and the authority of the domain that your press release is published. If the press release site also feeds Google News, then that is a bonus.

And once your press releases get published, blast the urls for those pages with some blog comment backlinks.

There are a few good gigs on Fiverr.com that do press release writing and distribution. Risk 10 bucks and see what happens

My experience with press releases has not been great. I was able to generate a bit of traffic to my site but no benefit in terms of SEO.

I'm planning to order a press release article at Fiverr then distribute it to 10 or more PR sites.. However, after reading some replies here it seems that PR submission may not help a lot..

  • Press releases worked like gangbusters 6 years ago. You could optimize press releases for your chosen keywords and your site will surge in those keywords but that advantage was lost two years ago. They do help in building your brand credibility and perhaps might help as an additional link source and yeah I'm still getting random customers from press releases issued 8 years ago.

I've spoken to a couple of SEO companies in the last few weeks and they are the opinion unless you have real news press releases are no longer worth doing. and i must say i have loads of releases which are just sales pitches.
