I've noticed recently that a lot of high ranking sites for niche markets aren't using KWs, is anyone else noticing this as well? Has anyone stopped using KWs in their meta tags?

Yes I have noticed this. Also most higher ranking site do not use Capital letters all way through their tags. The more natural the better. I have also started using (in) my tags.

Keywords in the Meta Tags have lost their importance in the ranking factors and I am not paying much attention to it. I just make sure that my content is strong and provide value to the visitors and I don't worry much about other stuff such as meta tags, keyword density, proximity etc.

Yes... I still use Keywords in meta tags. It's no harm using them. It's a nice practice, and I don't think it takes much time.

Meta keywords have 0 influence on your ranking - at least on Google. In general, it seems like on-page factors are becoming less and less relevant. More and more often, I find pages in the top 3 on Google that don't even the the keyword I was searching for (not even in the body content) - I see this often with those big content portals like about.com...

Yeah, I'm starting to notice that I shouldn't use them at all, I just put up 20 websites in the last 2 months, do you think I should remove the KW tags from the sites?

        Yes remove them.

No search engine worth a crap uses them. You are only giving away keyword ideas to competitors.

If you have too many, some search engines will actually ding you for that. So there is nothing but potential negatives.

So true. The search engines haven't needed the keyword tag in 10-years.

The keyword tag is one of those things in SEO that can't help you but might hurt you.

It's actually one of the most common mistakes my clients make when I first take them on. A LOT of small businesses put 50 (literally) keywords in the tag. I can't imagine anything looking more spammy than that.

keyword tag is pointless, dont bother with it at all.....description and title tag are the ones to use. search your keyword and check what the top ten in google are doing and copy it.
