Basic Anchor Text Question

Will both of the examples below count as a backlink/anchor text? In the SEO guidelines I often read for anchor text to use the <a href tag. However the standard [url code you see used in forums often hyperlinks websites. I was wondering if this counts as a backlink/anchor text as well.

[_URL="examplewebsite.com"]examplewebsite.com[/URL]

<a_href="http://www.example.com">Example Anchor Text</a>

Thanks

  • When you preview the page on the browser, the link will always display (in the code view) as:
    Code:
    <a href="http://www.example.com">Example Anchor Text</a>
    even if the forum uses the URL format:
    Code:
    [_URL="http://examplewebsite.com"]examplewebsite.com[/URL]
