Waddup? 2nd week experience doing SEO as a 9-5

So....there's that saying that people do IM to quit their 9-5's. Well...the opposite happened to me. I gained SO MUCH knowledge from IM the past 2 years. Probably learned more here (and network marketing), than college if anything. And in return, I was able to find a full time salary + full time benefits job! And it's not an "internet marketing" company. It's actually a credible clothing company that's been around for 10+ years with 100+ employees. Oh....and a BUNCH OF MODELS that I get to see every day.

That being said, I took this opportunity because...well? Why not?
1) I can learn more.
2) I get paid consistently. Good paying job.
3) I get to invest this money into my BUSINESS.
3) Benefits.
4) Models. HOT girls.
5) Models. HOT girls.
6) Models. HOT girls.

I honestly don't think a 9-5 is a bad thing as LONG as you love it. I've met so many business owners that make 6 figures, and yet they still have a 9-5. They have their reasons. Some get bored, some just want more money, some want the benefits, some just want to do more.

Anyways.....what I'm learning from this company (and I won't give it out), in regards to SEO/IM...you HAVE to work your ass off. Period. I used to use a bunch of automated software to rank my pages and it never worked LONG TERM. At home, I used to work maybe 3 hrs a day more or less for my business. Now, I'm working 8-10 EFFICIENT hrs a DAY with this company. And it's my 2nd week, and I haven't built a single backlink yet! I've been researching thoroughly (BIGGEST KEY). And I for sure don't want to mess things up because this is a multi-million dollar company. I'm the only LINK builder too so I want to make sure I do well.

I enjoy it a lot. And there's so many simple, free, and effective tools that a lot of us may have missed out on because we're so caught up on so many damn crappy softwares that people offer on this forum.

Anyways, to make it short from what I learned: Be efficient, work hard, and don't take shortcuts that could hurt you in the long run. Or just don't take shortcuts period when owning a business. I know this company didn't. Peace everyone!

P.S. - Yes, I still do my own business. Yes I will still do Amazon. Yes, I am open to testing things out. Yes, one of the main reasons why I got this job is to have capital to invest back into my online business.

P.S.S - Shoutouts to specific WF members that helped me gain a lot of knowledge. Yukon, Paulgl, Wolfmmiii, Mike Anthony, Mike Friedman, JProjects, UMS, Nest28.

Agreed, anyone who is making a living online IS working full time to make that happen, eventually they may scale back but you said it, no one makes a living online without a lot of hard work.

Good for you finding a full time job if you like it, that is what we all want, right, to do what we enjoy everyday.

I dunno bout the others but this aint no friendship. Where is my weekly affiliate commissions?

Hey public congrats on the new job. Work it hard and learn the white hat techniques you won't learn here. You wouldn't be the first in house SEO to branch out into 6 figures consulting afterwards.

Sure. I won't lie to you and tell you it won't take you showing some good results and you better not even dream of doing anything that could get your company reported for spam or worse penalized but yeah get outside of WF and real businesses have advertising budgets of $10.000 a month and way up. 3 businesses paying you $3,000 a month for SEO has you knocking at the door of $100,000. Take a real company to a point of increasing income and yep your name can get around to a few other busineses when and if you decide to move on.

but again you better unlearn what you think you may have learned here. That firing up GSA isn't going to cut it. You work for a company now with real products and a real website. You leverage that for real and natural links by working that email client of yours (and not in a spammy way either). Competitive research of where they are getting natural links from and what content strategies they use is a great start.

That's another thing. I noticed all the stuff that I'm doing now, was nothing I learned from the WF. Completely different. They emphasized a lot on link partners, and having agents as far as link building. They use a software called Bright Edge which is $2,000 a month.

They spend about $50,000 just on PPC a month I believe. They have a couple of engineers.

They emphasized on shitty links and spam. They hate it. They want to be natural. It's A LOT of work.

Yep and thats why you won't see much of that here and you will hear others whining that anything over $200 a month is Oh tooooo Much for SEO.

They have absolutely no idea how SEO is done on the legit business level. Every now and again you read some totally ignorant soul telling people all SEO companies do is outsource to fiverr.

P.S. If you ever mentioned WF to anyone at work never do so again.

  • Congrats and keep us apprised of your successes and challenges. I retired a while back but still hanker for that 9 to 5 friendships and learning even though I yearned to be free of it while I was working. Enjoy.
