I Want Negative SEO - Is This For Real!?

So I just saw this WTB ad on a gig site:

I've been away from SEO field from some time now, so I don't have any clue if this is possible or not. I've read articles and discussion about this but so far no one can confirm the possibility, at least from what I've read so far.

Can you guys tell me, is this for real? Can anyone use this against our site?

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Fiverr will do that, only they call it regular SEO.

    • So is this become a regular practice nowadays?

    • Theoretically, yes. Practically, maybe.

Google has changed their stance in recent years from "bad links can't hurt your site, they just won't help it" to "bad links can sometimes hurt your site".

This means that if someone builds spammy links to your site, it has the chance of reducing your rankings.

    • ROFL... we disagree alot but high props. This is the post of the week.
  • By the way current, major search engines are designed to work, negative SEO can be used to destroy a competitor's site's ranking. Too unfortunate!
  • Yes it is possible (6 months now). I did a test on one my sites that was on page one for its KW's but not making any money and hit it with cheap traffic, profile links, blog comments one week and then stopped. The week after it was sand boxed.

This was one of the main reasons I have moved away from relying on search traffic. Just so you know it does depend on what niche you are in weather or not this will happen. It is not standard practice by most people but it does happen and is quite cheap and simple.

    • Dang, this will make SEO even more expensive just to battle the negative SEO if you happen to get attacked by it.

I moved away from SEO since second google animal update, too much stress lol.

This does make the blast 40k of xrumer backlinks a day kind a guy looks a bit more ethical huh

  • I actually need this. If you provide negative seo, pm me.

  • Negative SEO is 100% real...
  • Only a fool would say negative SEO is nothing but a myth. And this is coming from someone who may have done it quite a few times over the years.
  • I dont believe that Google will allow it

Google will definitely have some tools to detect it

    • So tell me, even in theory, how they would do that?
    • Unfortunately, Google has now programmed their algorithm to make negative SEO not only possible, but very easy.

They don't care about your site or mine. As long as the big brands and high Adwords spenders remain untouchable, the little guys don't matter.
  • In the real world there are people who would kill someone else for cash...

We can't be surprised people would murder a website for the same reason.
  • It makes me cringe to even see posts like this. I hope people don't use these techniques to destroy the competitions hard work. Ethically speaking, thats about as low as one can go.
  • A competitor got jealous and spammed viagra links to my website last year. There were over 5000 links and they're still coming. It's so unfortunate.
  • just buy extreme xrumer blasts at fiverr.. 60-100k profile backlinks. then just ping them all.. see a site getting sandboxed quickly. simple as that, but if you are doing this you deserve to have your internet cable cut!! As you and me, people here invest a lot of time and money to make a website for some small profit.. and someone destroys that with 5$. If anyone did this to my sites and i could find out who he is i would be so mad, ill shit all over his face irl haha.
  • Definitely real. What really sucks, is not just negative SEO on a website, but on local search too.

If someone has an aged yelp/google local listing, with tons of reviews built up over years and years, all you have to do is post a couple duplicate reviews from different accounts and apparently you can get the whole listing filtered/reviews deleted.

I had a customer leave a review on my yelp that never showed up. They called me up and asked me what to do. Stupidly, because I didn't know shit about yelp, I suggested "maybe someone else in your home has an account? Could it be that your account is new?"

The next day at work, he copies the review from his email, posts its from a different account this time, it shows up immediately.

I come back 2 weeks later just to check my account, and see that all my reviews are filtered, because the first review decided to randomly show up.

I'm still trying to get the problem fixed.

This is why I'm becoming more and more paranoid about building up my online reputation or relying on SEO for traffic. The more and more sensitive these algorithms become, the easier its going to be for some jackass to wipe out my entire online presence.

And I'm certaintly not going to move over to PPC. I'd rather stop using the internet and do all my marketing offline.

  • Don't know much about negative SEO ..
  • Exactly why I hate Google. They introduced all this bs algorithms to get sites penalized quick and then gave you a bs disavow tool.
"Oh someone spammed your site with sh*tty xRumer and Scraperbox links? You received over 100k spammy links? Great. Now sit here for a month straight going through your links filtering them out and then submit it through this f*king tool that probably wont do sh*t for you".
Sometimes I wish Google would go bankrupt.
  • I am sure that good websites will never hurt no one, if not a lot of people will hurt websites like alexa, different hosting, and strong competitors. Maybe some websites with less time online can be dammaged in this cases
  • This is why people think SEO doen't work anymore because they do the wrong techniques and try to do shortcuts and never get anywhere.
  • Hmm of course it's possible here are some that will do such favor:

    xxx websites links
I will give you 100,000 backlinks for $5
Xrumer and Scrapebox autoapproved comments that will take you to the top...... of the bottom of Google

You get the idea, unfortunately people do it and in fact my friend's website got hit with negative SEO and her site has been even de-indexed, true story (but good thing over time she tons of followers so she still get a lot of traffic)
  • You are giving this guy the benefit of the doubt of wanting some legit negative SEO business.

In reality, he is a malicious a$$hat that uses unscrupulous and illegitimate methods against his competitors or someone he wants revenge against.
