Adwords keyword tool is misleading?

I just tested a few things and i think that adwords keyword tool shows wrong search results for particular keywords.
I know a few keywords that has more than 200k monthly searches, but even top 3 on google by exact keyword has a small traffic.
Normally if you rank in top 3 for a keyword which gets more than 200k monthly searches, i suppose you should get at least 1000 unique visits just from that particular keyword daily, but when i checked top 3 sites, i can clearly see that they get max 200-300 unique visits in total ( by contacting some of them for traffic results etc..).
How it can be?
