Be cautious. When purchasing a site from ANYONE, ask yourself ONE question:

Why would the seller make such an offer?

For example, if a seller promises all kinds of content, first page rankings, and $1000 a week (or month), why would he sell such a site for $29????

If the seller's offer makes financial sense for both you and him, then it's probably pretty safe. If it DOESN'T make financial sense for the seller, be wary.

Yeah, what Wolf said above. Why would someone sell a 1st page ranking site if it's making good money? Answer: They won't. I know I won't.

Just check out what price they are offering and do a bit research about the website. You will understand, if there is anything wrong with the website..

Stay away from anyone that offers a guarantee for 1st page ranking. yes they may get you there, but the links that they use will do more harm then good in the long run.

    Regards,

I'm sure SOME people succeed but put yourself in the seller's shoes:

      SELLER:

I have a site here that took me 2-4 hours to build. It took me another 3 hours to research the keywords/products.

It then took me another 2 hours to post all of the "unique" content.

Hey wow! It's ranking on page one for all terms and earning me $500 a month!

What should I do with it?

      I know! I'll sell it for $29!!!!

Does this make sense to ANYBODY reading this? If it does, you are in for a rough ride around here.

most sellers will sell you a complete site based on a long tail keyword with +- 1500 exact hits a month. First page doesnt mean first position.. if your site is on the bottom of page 1 for 1500 hits you can expect like 200 hits a month (maybe!).. If the keyword has a cpc of lets say 4$, the EPC will be around 2-3$ per click trough adsense. If you have low expectations (which you should) you can expect perhaps around 10-20$ a month from this site. This is the real world.. people who offer 20$ a day from adsense, they wont sell such site for anything less then 1000$. I mean look on flippa for adsense sites, then u can get a indication on what a website is really worth based on its adsense profits.

total waste of time. I bought 5 WSO's in the last 2 months and got nothing but complete junk. actually I was lucky if any work was done at all. most of them just do nothing and hope you will reach the 30 day dispute limit so you are out the money. finally found 1 that was good at atleast responding and doing general site design but I basically wasted 6 weeks messing around with scams. learned a good lesson. do it yourself!!

It is possible but don't expect such site to make a lot of money.

Soon I might start a cooperation with a complete website seller on this forum where he builds the sites and I rank them within a certain budget.

Such sites would make money but definitely do not expect it to pull in anywhere near hundreds of dollars a month. It's just more of a starting point where the site would make between $5 and $50/month, which will increase if you put work into it like adding more content and building more links.

Probably it will come with an upsell for more content and/or more link building.

Sure we could also sell it with a guaranteed income of let's say $100/month but then it would simply cost somewhere between $700-$1000,- to purchase as that's the value of such site. So yeah do the math yourself if such site would cost around $300,-, it probably won't make more then $30,-/month and if it did earn more then we would be doing something wrong

Either way, it's often easier to build out a site that is already ranking then start from scratch, especially when you don't know to much about site- and/or link building.

Conclusion: You pay for what it's worth.

Funny enough you can never predict how much a site will make, so there will be people that would only make like $2-5/month but there will also be people that get lucky and that do hit the $100/month mark and insane lucky people that might make even $250/month when the product is very new for example. You can never predict the market. Such things open it up for a way of advertising like: Complete websites for sale with a guaranteed income up untill $250/month. While we all know that number is exceptional. My point, learn the sales thread good and divide the predictive numbers by factor 10 and you probably come close to how it works out for the majority.

Actually same like with all of the WSO's that scream make $5000/month with 1 hour invested time per day. More likely you'll make $500/month with 1 hour per day, that comes down to a $16,66/hourly rate. The only difference is that they state it almost as a fact that you'll make $5k/month.

Yep most people are in it for the quick money, or they suck at website building, or they suck at link building (which most do as they just launch up some softwares and magically expect the site to rank). Or they suck at both.

And in the end you feel ripped of, and in fact got ripped of.

I wasnt looking for any "magic" so to speak. all I was after was someone that would get a basic framework up with some content so I could build it from there. I was just trying to save a bit of time and speed up my process a bit. I had no expectations of the sites making money immediately. I knew it would take ALOT more work on my end and several months to earn.

I was just a bit surprised how difficult it was to find anyone that would even do the basic layout and provide some articles to get started. I mean how could I get upset about rankings and earnings when I couldnt even get to the point of having a site that was even half way usable.

That surprises me a bit, you're telling me that you couldn't even find someone who provided a decent enough theme / layout and some properly written articles? Is the complete website for sale section really THAT bad, damn there is a whole market open then

Anyway, my comment about "magic" was based on the thread title as you clearly said: "buying a 1st page site" so I logically assumed that you expected it to rank there and make money. So I also expected that you related "scam" to a not ranking site.

I'll make sure to read better next time and sorry to hear that it went that awful.

LOL you didn't start this thread, you know what I"ll just shut up

Btw my experience with buying complete websites is like this so far:

1: Mostly the content sucks or the site is just too expensive

2: I once bought a review copy for half the price but it never got delivered, did receive a refund though

3: In progress now, very communicative seller, bit too expensive imo cause of the few amount of content but I can see he chooses good products so just have to wait for the end result before I can really say something about it, definitely not a scam though. In fact he chose a product that I already bought domains for months ago so good sign that we're on the same line lol.

no worries. you are obviously experienced so I appreciate any thoughts you have. and YES, it is that bad. even though I am new to IM I have done alot of reading on site building, SEO etc etc. so I understand the general concept of most issues involved. I just dont have alot of experience in hands on actually getting it accomplished (the most important part, LOL). I have very realistic expectations and I am willing to work through things and stick with it. Just seems difficult to find good providers to help me through the process.

with all that being said. even someone who knows almost nothing about building websites could make money doing a WSO if they simply had strong customer service skills which are from my experience almost non existent right now. if I had a bit more time right now I would even give it a shot because I can at least install a theme, do a basic layout and buy some articles and verify they are original.
