Uh, it's not free If they need a credit card number.

It's also about as useful as a bicycle on the space shuttle.

What SEO tools do you use?

I think there's a lot of useful stuff there. A full version of Open Site Explorer is nice. They also have some social media tracking in there which can be useful. Also, there's a lot of stuff that lets you track and compare data with your competition (backlinks, anchor text, etc.).

Essentially it's all the stuff you used to be able to do with the old versions of Google, Yahoo, etc., but it's also a lot more. A LOT more actually.

Hmmm, Open Site Explorer is decent, the keyword difficulty tool isn't bad either...

...the rest on the other hand? Yeah.

There are some other tools in there that are pretty sweet if you dig into them. Solid on page analyzer that puts out professionally looking reports that can close SEO sales among them. Its far more than OSE.

Its a professional set of tools really geared toward professional SEOs and highly regarded by them. Its understandable that Imers would think it over priced and not get what the tools are or do. In many cases they don't have the credit card to sign up so that fuels some anger at the trials as well.

I guess you don't understand how recurring payment schemes work.

You provide the credit card number for the so called free trial, 75 days later you completely forget about the entire deal, you get billed the usual amount that they sell the wonderful service for.

Moz isn't banking on you liking the service, they're banking on you forgetting that you submitted a credit card number. The longer the time span of the so called free trial, the more likely you'll forget about you giving up the credit card number.

If anything, learn from their marketing skills.

      Welcome to Internet Marketing.

Back with the same old garbage. Yuke you are coming very close to lying against this company....ummmm no lets me rephrase that you ARE point blank lying against this company because this has been pointed out to you before. Seomoz sends you a notice a few days before your trial is to be over. If anyone is boneheaded to forget after being reminded then its on them. I got a 120 day free trial from namecheap because I have so many domains there and sorry yuke

        IT WAS FREE

I got an email a week before the trial was to be over, went to the site and clicked two buttons and was never billed. So again you are lying against this company and you have been told this before

        Welcome to Internet Marketing.
Nope welcome to plain old jealousy from a forum poster of a company that he knows is widely and highly regarded as a market leader.

Lol, you would have to be brain dead to not get the whole MOZ IM sales gimmicks.

LMAO at your lying comment. I didn't lie about $hit, it's a Moz sales gimmick trying to spoon for a credit card number. They could care less If you like the crap or not, the money is in you forgetting you submitted a credit card after 75 days (recurring bill).

Sounds like some Moz fan dreaming of bigger/better days (meh)...

          [Chorus:]
          Blue skies
          Calling on blue skies

Sorry Yuke you both were and are most definitely point blank lying. You cannot claim to know they "could care less" and they are hoping you forget etc when they send out a notice reminding you that the trial is about to expire. Your point is DOA since they do that.

You are being childish with this whole trial with a credit card is a scam nonsense. Nowhere does is say free GIVEAWAY. the word is TRIAL. Every adult I know knows what that means. Trying means "hey if I like it then I will continue using it". SO of course since it is a TRIAL companies want to make sure that you can be an actual customer and have the ability to pay. Hence the credit card

Its good business sense and with companies such as Seomoz perfectly above board since they remind you days before you are to be billed and make it bonehead simple to cancel without even having to call them. In the adult world free trials with billing at the end is everywhere

Cable companies use that with premium channels
            Netflix uses that.
thousands of online and offline memberships use free trials with credit cards
Shucks ton loads of IM software providers do that.

You really have to not have much to do with finances if you don't know this. The reputable companies spell that out clear as day and you agree to it when you sign up. claiming "oops I forgot even after they remind me days before billing started so they are a scam" is not an adult argument.

Nuff from me on the subject. Like I said the fact that they remind you before billing begins forever makes your accusations DOA

Well I'm not about the get between those two.

I'll say what I have said many, many times.

SEOmoz does not need free backlinks and promotions,
and it's a detestable practice to use the WF for such
things, and, SEOmoz has always had their own agenda.

Seriously. They need spammed links to drum up business?

I know their blogs are fluff filled with backlinks.

What the junk are you talking about now Paul. Are you claiming the OP is working for SEOmoz? Does he? If not your accusation is just entirely off the wall even more than usual. Sometimes I think that you and Yuke are the same person.

Um, I don't work for SEOmoz. I posted this here because I thought some might be interested. I was. If you're not, fine. Move on.

I think spammy internet marketing has creeped into some people's bones here. SEOmoz is not out to rip you off. You may not think their service is worth their price, and that's fine. I'm not sure I think it is either. But I definitely think it's worth trying out for FREE (yes FREE) for 75 days. I can do a lot of research in that time. And to be honest, I will probably drop it after that.

Sheesh ... you try to help people out ...

p.s. If you're worried about forgetting when the 75 days is up, set up an email alert. That's what I always do for this type of thing. If it's a reputable company, as SEOmoz is, they aren't just going to take your money. If you say "cancel," they cancel. If they didn't, you could sue their asses into the ground.

As I said, some of you boys need to get out of the internet marketing slime and take a look around at the world most people live in.

Trivum I have seen some suspicious stuff in the forums but none as suspicious as two posters almost within the same hour (EDIT - WITHIN FIVE MINUTES) making up the same way out claim that a poster with hundreds of unrelated posts is spamming the forums by mentioning one of the top names in SEO and doing so IN THE SEO SECTION of this forum.

                  What total garbage.

SO I am not even buying it that you are dealing with two different totally unrelated people. Maybe but thats extremely strange to say the least.

As far as the slime and smear campaign that is going on I went ahead and dug up the email I got from seomoz when my trial was about to expire (was over a year ago so don't know what they do now) Here it is

                  "Hey there!

"It's your friends at SEOmoz; we just wanted to check in and see how your free trial has been treating you.

Our team loves to hear feedback, so if you have questions, requests, or general feedback for us, feel free to send them over at: [email address removed by me to protect against email spam].

Also, we wanted to let you know that you have one week left in your free trial, and when it expires, you will be charged $99/month. We hope you've enjoyed your membership, but if you wish to cancel, you can do so on your account settings page.

                  Viva la SEO!
                  "

The accusations in this thread are pure garbage and slander. There will always be a contingency here that hate any organization that preaches white hat but theres no need to go low and fabricate things about the company and the people behind it.

P.S. I have had two trials (and also subscribed for awhile. I've had SEOmoz reports help close $1000+ a month clients) and NEVER been billed after clicking the cancel button (no hoops to jump through and nothing hidden or hard.)

OSE is way too limited, really the worse back link checking tool I ever tried, sure it shows most of the strongest links, with the emphasize on most cause even there it lacks in functionality.

The only thing that I like about SEOmoz is the keyword difficulty tool, although even there you need to take it with a large grain of salt now and then, or in other words you shouldn't stare yourself blind purely at the % that it spits out. When looking at the table of DA and PA stats in relation to how the page is optimized for that kw then it sure becomes a pretty valuable asset. Probably one of the best.

The only feature I'm missing is a bulk competiton checker option. That would be worth gold.
