Niche related forum posting

by JGalves 16 replies
I have heard that forum posting can hurt you if the content is not related to your niche. What i'm curious about is if the entire forum is niche related; is that the only way you can get good contextual backlinks? lets say for my niche, carpet cleaning, there are only three forums out there that are for carpet cleaners, however, if home improvement forums were ok in the eyes of google, I would love to start doing some forum posting in those forums. I need to know that it will FOR SURE not hurt my rankings as I have achieved position 1 on google. Thank you gurus!

I found forum posting to be most effective when i become an active member by posting good helpful content and replies. If you can add a link in the signature of your profile this will also help you to build backlinks.

Yes and if the topic is related, this would be helpful (I like your style btw -> HELPFUL replies are recommended). By the way, do NOT forget to take part in interesting discussions and this way you can also make new friends and they could help you in your business...

Forum posting will not hurt your ranking as long as your post is a well thought and well written composition of words that does neither include too many links nor copied content from other posts. Please ask if you have anymore questions.

I too have been participating in forum discussions but it always helped me. You need to be very careful while choosing the forums. Forums with high PR and authority will never hurt your site.

With all the major updates happened in recent past, Google has made it's ranking guidelines really very tough. Over link building and using same anchor text may hurt your site.

As long as your post is relevant to what is being discussed in the particular thread of the forum, you should be fine. Be part of the conversation going on and ensure your post is in context. For example, if there is a discussion on carpet cleaning in an interior decoration forum, then it is fine for you to post about carpet cleaning even though the forum is about interior decoration.

The thing is you need to find related forums, if you found only three carpet cleaning related forums then broad your search, take help of Google Adwords keyword tool, put the main keywords and get a list of related keywords, put them in Google in discussion search more and link to those forums.

Forums Posting Is A Part Of Off Page SEO Techniques And Helpful Source to Generate Backlinks And Traffic For The Website. The Relevant Niche Is A Plus Point. Acquiring links from niche related sites compared to unrelated doesn’t seem to matter. Joining on forums – posting relevant content on forum threads (with high traffic) is one way of getting traffic. Good amount of traffic can lead to good ranking in the SERP. Aside from this, you should also diversify your backlinking techniques by building contextual links from authority sites – article directory, web 2.0 property, wiki, document sharing, blogpost, etc.

Forum posting still useful if they are using in right way because a spam way will ever hurt while you going for guest blogging, article or other kind of promotion activity

Posting on unrelated forums is not going to hurt your website. If you post a lot on one forum, the impact of the backlink is not going to be high. The reason is because the backlink is coming from the same IP. To rank high, you need to get links from different IPs. If you post on a lot of different high quality forums, you will be able to solve the IP issue, and you will be able to increase your rankings for a lot of different keywords. However, this can take a lot of time.

Forum posting is one of my favorite methods of driving super-targeted traffic back to my sites. Just stick to higher traffic forums in your niche (home improvement is fine) and don't make lousy posts just to display your sig. Too many people do this and wonder why forum posting isn't working for them.

Post on forums to help people, NOT for links. The thing is, when you do it that way, you will still get links, and traffic.

If you want to get banned from a forum real fast, post 1 time and put your link in there. I've tried some forum stuff where you join big forums and ask people to use your link in their sig and you pay them.

    Banned.

Just be helpful, it's the bestest way.

First off, there's no FOR SURE in the SEO world.

There are Google spies on this forum but they don't post very often :p.

So keep in mind anything you read here has an element of risk because we don't work for Google.

Anyway, I think a few of those might help a little. The carpet cleaning forums would obviously be better because they're more niche-relevant.

However, Google's getting better at figuring out relevancy. So they know that links from home improvement sites are somewhat related to carpet cleaning.
