PR Confusion

So, I found this directory today at random but realised I'm totally confused by the PR.

The website is: http:// www. freeprwebdirectory .com
which is a PR 7.

However, the page I would submit to would be:
http:// www. freeprwebdirectory .com/ computers_and_internet/anti-virus
Which is a PR n/a.

Assuming, I submitted to this website. Would I get a PR 7 or a PR n/a Backlink?

I have no idea on how to find the Domain Authority, i'm using SEOQuake for this information.

  • The link is PR n/a
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Though the credibility of that domain passes to your website, page rank of that particular page only traverses to your website.
  • You would get pr n/a

but it is good if you submit to high pr directories which have high pr home page, some page rank distributed to your n/a page too.
  • You will get PR n/a since that’s the actual PR of the page that you’re submitting your content into.
  • N/A, but you can get creditability as you are getting link from PR 7 Domain.

    • Only if there is a link from the home page.

      That is a total myth.
    • No.

That is a common misconception. Just people people claiming a PR5 link from a PR5 domain, but a PR N/A page, is a PR5 link.
  • Agree, if the page you want to put link to is NA then you'll get NA and NOT PR7.

But page rank is not anymore as important as before. So I suggest you focus on getting links from authority sites or those sites with high content.

    • The only problem with that statement is that there is no firmly established metric from Google besides PR and no metric at all for what "high content" is.
  • Sometimes -- if you fish around enough -- you can find pages in a directory with PR.

You may have to be a bit liberal with the category, but with paid directories (which aren't making as much $$$ as they used to), they'll be happy to put your link just about anywhere.

Take some time to poke around related categories to see if there are any with PR.
