Help needed!!! I am a newbie

Hi all, I have set up my real estate website since sept last year.

For the past few months, I have been updating the website contents and submitting sitemaps to google and bing. Bing has indexed 200 over pages of my website but the strange thing is, google showed my index page as 0 and ever crawled pages is 15.

I talked to a few friends. My friends said it could be due to me copying and pasting some the real estate news from local online newspaper website directly. So I looking through the net about adding canonical link to my post. However, just one day after adding the canonical link some of my news section in my website, my alexa ranking plunge and drop by 2 million.

I have been writing many original articles as guest post to some of the high PR ranking page that the forum has recommended. But I can't seem to get good improvement in my website ranking.

Can anyone help me with this problem? My website is New Launch for sale in Singapore. Thank you so much.

  • Well submitting your sitemap doesn't really do anything for indexing or ranking. I'm not sure where you are getting the content from but you need to make sure that your keyword is in the content otherwise google won't know what your site is about. Also make sure you are getting links from high PR do follow pages and not just the domain. I.E. if the homepage is a PR 6 but you get a link from a new page that new page will be a PR 0. Not rally sure what else your problem could be.

    • Oh okay... Actually I only want to optimised pages that feature each of the new property launch. For example, Bartley Ridge - New Launch Talk for the keyword bartley ridge. So when people type bartley ridge, they will go to the bartley ridge page.

      The news section is just to consolidate all news related to property from different news website so that it keeps the consumer informed of the development. Is this a bad strategy?

    But do you have any idea why google does not index my website? And also, it seems that some of the backlinks that I post a week ago does not show up when I use ahref to search. How long is the time lag between posting the backlink and indexing it?

    • When you create a backlink it may not show up for a long time if its a low pr or spam type of backlink(like forum links). Now I have found that posting to sites like wordpress.com or squidoo the link may not get indexed for monthes unless you hit it with a 2nd teir, however if you buy a high pr homepage link I have seen indexing within 24 hours sometimes faster depending on the pr of the site. Now for your site it could be a number of things such as bad links going to it or crawl errors when google looks at your site.

      You can see a generally idea of what google thinks of your site on https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/ it will tell you if there are errors on your site and you can submit your sitemap and see index status.

      if you are using wordpress, add the all in one seo pack and google sitemap plugins. So pretty much you need to get high pr (2 - 9) homepage links. For your keywords you may need many but rule of thumb is to not even get any backlinks below pr 1 because they will come to kill your site.

      I did this with my newest website where I hit it with only pr 1 or higher and it shot up to the first page within 24 hours and now I am currently number 3 to 5 on google for couple different keywords.

  • Also, you need to improve page loading speed, it is slow a little.

    Concentrate on unique content creation only.
