According to Google Adwords keyword tool "Florist" receives 27,100 local monthly searches. Is there a way to determine what amount of those searches is in your city?

For example, out of 27,100 how many of those searches are conducted in New York?

Edit: I suppose I could set up a Adwords campaign to see huh.

I don't have an answer for your OP question but I did just now find something interesting when it comes to local keywords.

When I search Google for something local I usually add my zip code to the end of the keyword (keyword + zip-code).

I tested this on GKT for your main keyword (florist) plus a random zip-code, the random zip-code is a Dallas, TX suburb (Addison, TX. - 75001).

So my keyword is florist 75001, here's part of the keywords returned:
    • [flowers to go]
    • [addison florist]
    • [flower shops]
    • [local flower shop]
    • [addison flower shop]
    • [addison tx florist]
    • [addison texas florist]
    • [dallas flower shop]
    • [texas flower shops]
    • [flower shop in texas]
    • [flower shops that deliver]
    • [addison florists]
    • [florist addison]
    • [flower delivery dallas]
    • [flower delivery addison tx]
    • [local flower shops]
    • [florist in]
    • [local florist]
    • [flower shops in dallas]
    • [local florists]
    • [addison floral]
    • [tx flower]
    • [florists in addison tx]
    • [florist addison tx]
    • [flowers for you]
    • [flower shops in san antonio]
    • [mcshan florist]
    • [florist florist]
    • [florist dallas]

If you get on Google Maps & search for the same zip-code (75001) & zoom out a bit on Google Maps, you'll see that the keyword list is based on that GEO location & the area surrounding that zip-code.

I never mentioned a town/city name so GKT is doing just like a normal Google search would do If you include a zip-code, they'll return the relevant main keyword (florist) for the area surrounding the zip-code (local results).

IMO, this might be better than targeting the keyword (florist) all by itself (higher PPC cost, higher organic SERP competition), instead maybe target a bunch of the lower search volume keywords.
