I have a newbie question. I have a 20 pages website.

When I entered a keyword into the google search, my page showed up on page 3, but when I entered the following command "site:www.mydomain.com", my page disappeared.

What is happening? I searched my google webmaster, and I didnt get any emails concerning my website errors. Am I losing my page? Please help, I spent many hours on the page.

  • That is a little strange. Maybe also try site:mydomain.com or even search google for domain.com

    • this is extremely weird!

If I tred site:mydomain.com, my page showed up!!! This never happened before. Do you have any ideas why is this happening?
  • you most likely have to versions of your URL and the other version hasn't been indexed yet.

    • 2 versions of the same url? How does that happen and How can I fix it?

  • please research canonical urls.
  • A keyword search and site:www.mydomain.com have nothing to do with each other.
  • That link Charles gave you should most likely explain your issue. My first thought would have been to assign your site through Google Webmaster Tools and you can allocate a preferred domain i.e. mydomain.com or www.mydomain.com.

You don't really want both, so ideally pick one and go from there.
