Why do so many people think that getting a website indexed is difficult?

Seriously, it happens almost automatically and near instantly anyways.

I've put up brand new domains before that get indexed within a few hours. All you do is make a sitemap and ping it to Google. It's that simple. (You can make a free sitemap here and ping it to Google here).

I find it ridiculous when sometimes SEO "experts" or other product sales pages related to SEO try to pass off "get your website indexed fast" as something that is impossible or even remotely difficult for normal people to do.

In fact, if you have even a single backlink pointed to your website, it's hard to not get your site indexed, even if you don't ping it yourself or even if you don't have a sitemap.

One interesting thing about Google is that they index new websites and pages super lightning fast as long as they know about the website.

I've actually seen new threads on forums and other websites get indexed within minutes of being created, meaning I search on Google for the forum topic that I or someone else just created, and find the thread at the top of the rankings for the related keywords. (And this isn't just a result of browser cookies changing the SERPs, you can delete your cookies or have incognito mode on and it still works).

tl;dr: If anyone tries to sell you a "get your site indexed" product, please point and laugh heartily at them.
