Focus first optimizing your site pages. create or curate high quality contents to your site regularly, optimize your articles to be seo friendly (means include your keywords within the article), create robots.txt, sitemap, proper permalinks like domain.com/%postname% if your using wordpress, etc.

I can't guarantee you this is the fastest way to get your site to PR 5 but Its a guaranteed way in reaching that goal.

You can also use softwares to lessen the time creating your content. You can check my sig if you want.

Get backlinks from pages with high PR. (preferably PR5 + pages)

DO NOT listen to anyone saying Page Rank comes from having good content.

What backlinking strategy do you recommend for PR5? Thanks.

      This.

Too many times I see people saying that "creating good content" and "having traffic" can boost your PR. This is 100% false. PR comes from backlinks. That's it.

Fortunately, PR (while it can definitely help) is NOT the be-all-end-all. A properly optimized page with good content and low / no PR can absolutely outrank a page that is not properly optimized, but has a higher PR.

Obviously, long term, the goal is to have both.

If you have a good enough site, you can try reaching out to webmasters for a link from their site.

Or you can ask for a link exchange (3way link exchanges etc) but I doubt anyone with a PR5 and higher would allow that.

Getting links from PR5 and above pages will be hard, and expensive.

Buying links would be your best bet here.

I agree. To improve PR,you need to get backlinks from PR5 or higher page rank websites.PR increases through content but it can be increased upto PR 3. To improve more than PR3,you will really work hard to find PR 5 or higher page rank websites.

This is the exact answer to your question.

It won't necessarily do you much good...but it will get you the PR you want.

  • If you are trying fastest way, you would end up in a complete negative direction. PR value is determined by a lot of factors. And it would surely take time. The key is consistency, relevancy and diversification of links

Just curious...why do you want a PR5 site? Having a high PR site doesn't mean you will rank higher...

The quickest way to do this is buy a PR5 website, preferably in your own niche with a strong backlink profile, and 301 redirect it to your website. You can use the tool in my signature to help you find such a domain.

    Good luck!

      I am worried about this:
"A lot of these directories are a gamble though because they buy high PR links from PR7 PR8 pages and get penalized after several months. "

The Yahoo directory seems to work well for PR. There are a few other web directories that seem to work. You just have to purchase premium listings to get your link on actual PR pages. Don't deal with a web directory unless your going to get your link on an actual PR page.

A lot of these directories are a gamble though because they buy high PR links from PR7 PR8 pages and get penalized after several months.

Also, I had one website where I posted roughly 20 articles to scribd and pointed links back to a new website. On the first PR update I went from a PR NA to a PR4.

$299 for the review plus $299/yearly is a little steep for the Yahoo directory.

Since pagerank is based only on the incoming links and has nothing to do with the quality of the website’s content, you need to acquire backlinks from different high quality sources with good amount of PR in order to increased your site’s PR. You will not only have improved PR but your website will also gain authority.

Good content does encourage people reading it to share it and talk about it and in general build links for you...real ones. It also encourages people to come back to your site, stay longer and maybe even buy something. Just saying.

        You are right.

But the content itself won't boost your PR. (The links that people create to it may, though.)

Buy a PR 5 expired domain. $30 to $300 and you get your PR 5 domain in a few days.
    That simple.

Of course its senseless, because it will give you nothing, except you like to sell PR links,
which will give you for a non decent authority site only a few bucks. SAPE dropped the
prices to nothing except for really stupid guys buying from other sources.

You can judge the quality and experience of a SEO audience by the numbers of questions
related to PR. Which will tell you alot about the knowledge level of this forum part.

      Em, build links?
      • Why do you even want a PR5 homepage? Why not PR6, or PR7? PR is not an indication of quality or ability of a website to rank, there are tons of PR0 pages ranking for relatively competitive search terms.
      • PR isn't assigned at the site level, no idea why everyone keeps saying "site" - the clue is in the name, PAGERank. *there is a theory that Google retains some form of DomainRank metric, but it is just that...theory, it's not publicly available.
      • Its seems to be a very arbitrary aim, why not aim for a 5% conversion rate, or a set level of visibility, or a set amount of sales? These are far more goal orientated and well, beneficial, than a simple PR5 homepage which, really, doesn't even necessarily translate into rankings.

In most contexts, i.e. for the converting queries which are based on page/anchor relevance and authority it's only one small piece in a very large jigsaw of factors. There are again, tons of PR0 pages ranking for these search terms and quite frankly, generic is NOT where it's at.

Hit the buying cycle, generate sales - it's called guerilla SEO.

I haven't noticed any visible decrease in SAPE links prices, but if you want to get PR 5 fast you should try getting some PR 6 links, which can be bought for $6 to $10 per month at the cheapest. On the other hand, PR 5 links start at the price of $2-3. They can help you too if your goal is to improve your PageRank.

It seems to me that more keywords within your homepage text (or any high PR page) does get priority when a page rank is higher. If combined with great content matching a title, then the page tends to move up slightly in SERP’s.

Not to mention, if the home page is linked properly, it bleeds page rank into other important inner pages, increasing the position of a page in SERP’s. Therefore, every high PR link may be more beneficial then several mediocre links with same anchor text.

I would think this is why Google does not allow the sale of links as PR is a major factor for rankings. Hell, I have several pages with decent PR that rank well in SERP’s and there almost no content on the pages at all and no one has linked to them. They get PR from the home page.

Not to mention, my best sales and traffic pages on my money sites are pages with PR. Non PR pages tend to convert less and receive less traffic.

Optimized content works very well, but combined with high PR seems to work better...you don’t agree?

It's really hard to reach PR5 for a new website... PR4 is much more easier, but PR5, you need a lot of PR6 backlinks.. Well, you could try getting backlinks from PR5+ websites that have LOW OBL's. Also, article marketing and guest blogging are great ways to quickly increase your PR!

Buy an expired domain that already has PageRank - NOT from a "PageRank Domains" seller, use the regular expired domain search tools that aren't specifically called out as being high PR domains. Then create content for that site that matches the link categories that are already linking to the expired site, and create a backlink from there to your own site to pass some of the rank.
