Google came out with a best practices PDF for SEO a little while back. I'll look it up for you and send it over. It's a good start.

I got this tips from one of the threads in here and I have saved it and now Im going to share it to you.

Search Engines are online services that allow users to scan the contents of the Internet to find Web sites or specific information of interest to them. A user inputs a search term, and the search engine attempts to match this term to categories or keywords in its catalog of World Wide Web sites. The search engine then generates a list of sites that match the search criteria, ranked in order of relevance.

      1. Know your target audience
Find out why they are visiting your site and what they want to do when they get there.

      2. Research the competition
Search for your chosen keywords in Google and review the sites that are listed first.

      3. Increase the number of links to your site
Put together a list of relevant sites that have the potential to send you traffic and get in touch with them to link to your site.

      4.Submit to site directories
Submit with your site's name using your keywords, and then you could be ranked more highly on Google for those keywords, which means more traffic.

      5.Joining Communities
Joining forums is a great way to meet other designs and to network. If you become an active member in forums you can use your reputation to promote your website. Many forums receive large amounts of traffic and people pay attention to well respected members with high post counts.

      Thanks for the tips Momma.

There is only two mantras of that -

    # Put quality and 100% original content on your websites, blogs or forums
    # Build the relevant and quality backlinks from the websites, blogs.

Just follow these two steps fopr next three months and I am sure you will be able to get respected page rank and good SERP as well.

Oh Bro, When I read the title that your PR had been dropped from PR6 to PR2... hmm, but that is not the case. However, to increase your page rank, you have to have more inbound links, Before that you have to complete your ONSITE SEO (adding Meta tags, keywords and etc). To get more inbound links you can go with blog commenting as well as Article submissions and etc..... If you need more traffic you can use social bookmarks too.

Do not go for quantity. Get the quality backlinks. If not build backlinks to the page where your link is placed. Suppose you have bookmarked your website on a social bookmarking site. Build backlinks for the story URL. Use the story URL in Article Marketing..

Get tons of links pointing to your site. It does not matter whether the link has high PR or not. But higher the PR, the better!

Pagerank is really all about link building and the quality of your backlinks. Try to get the best backlinks possible and as most of us know, the best links come from authoritative sites, and 99% of the time, authoritative sites have good PR.

either way, to increase PR, its all about link building (in my opinion):

Check some of these to build back links:

IMHO the most important thing to know about pr is that pr does not equal high serps. Climbing up serps is about relevancy, whereas building pr is about chasing high pr pages (mind you, not sites, pagerank is not assigned to sites), but the only way you can find the pr value out is the toolbar, and the toolbar is way too behind, so why bother.
