Yahoo directory

I am working on a new site (only a few months old) but with a domain age of 12. Compared to its competition it should be ranking but it is not. (it has been indexed though) PR is still 0. Onsite SEO is done.

I assume I need a few good links to point to it to start to get it to rank.
Is a link in the yahoo directory still recommended? Does anyone have any other recommendations?

TIA.

  • Not recommended...they are too expensive...put the money into some other form of link-building.

Depending on your budget that link-building could take a lot of different forms.

    • I agree. Yahoo directory (and some other TOP 5-10 directories are worth if only the keywords you are trying to rank are VERY high competitive!)

  • Guess I'll be the one to say its worth it. But thats because I had money to blow. Next month I'll have to pay the 299 again to renew my yearly subscription and I'll definitely be doing that.

I wouldn't even recommend it if your site is not complete or spammy because they will not refund your money if rejected. Seen a good jump in SERP's shortly after being listed in the Yahoo directory.
