Spammed forum in sub dir killed rankings?

Been wondering for a few weeks why my rankings for my $ site have disappeared. I just realized a website, which i have in a sub directory had gotten forum spammed to death. Ive disabled the site now, but could that have been the culprit? 1000s of outgoing links from my IP?

What else should i do at this point? And will the ranking problem now correct itself?

I have 2 websites on 1 server. Website 1 is my $ site. Website 2 is a hobby site with a forum. Website 2s forum had large amounts of spam because i haven't checked on it in a while. Can that effect website 1s rankings?

Spam forums, or low quality sites are not helpful these days, you should know of this first.

That's the most common reason why 90% of the websites disappeared from the search engine results in the last few months...

Is anybody reading my question before they answer?

This are not spam links directed to my $ site..........

I have 2 websites on my server.
Website 1 is my main website
Website 2 is a hobby site with a forum
Website 2 was heavily spamed using something like scrapebox. Thousands of posts with links going to OTHER websites, not mine..
With all those outbound links on site 2, can site 1 feel the effect??

Just disable that forum, or delete properly. If not moderate it each day, to be sure you don't get spam links

      Close to it actually...

You've confused everyone by talking about a subdirectory.

What are the addresses of the two sites?

      hxxp://$site.com
      hxxp://forumsite.com

      OR
      hxxp://$site.com/forumsite

      Or is it something else?

hxxp://site2.com (forum heavily spammed with links for designer handbags and porn..)

        Both on same server.

What im WONDERING, is if those thousands of links on site 2 are flagging my IP as some kind of spam breeding grounds or something.

That is just completely stupid. 90% of the websites disappeared from the SERPs? WTF? Where do you even come up with that kind of stuff?

To the OP... That shouldn't really impact your rankings. I'm assuming you are using a shared host. There is probably another 50-200 websites on that same server along with your 2. A bunch of spammy outgoing links from one domain is not enough for Google to blacklist everything on the IP.
