Hello I am a newbie to the forum, but have enjoyed researching for days. Very addicting to say the least. I run a small (less than 10 reps) media agency for radio so internet advertising is mostly new to me. I have tried AdWords, Bing and FB with no luck for a client that has been with me for 7 years. The landscape of radio marketing is changing quite a bit and so he said he would give us first shot at generating internet leads. I have a f/t web developer/designer who generated our landing pages for all of the offline traffic via radio to the internet and that pulls 100+ leads per day. It's a competitive space (extended vehicle warranty) and I spent $389 in less than 24 hours on AdWords with about 1200 keywords a very strong mix of negative, broad and phrase match keywords. We go 4 leads in which 1 deal sold. We tag each landing page with a unique toll free # so we record all calls. A month ago I signed an insertion order for 25 leads per day for 2 weeks @$15 per lead and at best we are getting 10 leads per day and our client is using Leads360 so they are called within milliseconds and no contact or already called. I know that some consumers are going to price match, search other companies etc....but the quality for the leads that my client did contact was horrible.

Anyway in summary I am open to suggestions and need some help.

Thanks-

  • Although you may hear different from newbs you really have not provided enough information. I will go on the assumption that your client is selling ad space although you never actually say

In your case I would think the better approach to having 1200 keywords which don't seem to be targeting qualified leads would be to do direct ad buys where an advertising banner will show on a site that ad buyers read.

The SEO approach would probably take too long for you and the adwords approach will just empty your bank account.

    • Sorry for not providing as much information and I am sure as I post more that will come . My client is the a top 3 source of providing vehicle service contracts aka extended auto warranty(s) to prospective clients.

I am trying to help that client lock down more business due to the fact that my radio media agency is not producing enough calls. 2 years ago we would feed him 700-800 calls per day on national media buys. With traditional radio changing I am now down to 400 calls per day. The quality is still strong, but he has given me first shot (About a month) to produce 50-100 exclusive internet leads per day. I have spoken with a few publishers, but I tried that a few years ago for a client of mine that does diabetic supplies and the leads we're junk.

The SEO approach would most likely take to long. If you search "auto warranty" on page 1 you will see it's (2-3 companies with top listings). I personally sell radio calls to 1 of them. He spent 2yrs+ getting there and that was a conversation we had about a year ago. Maybe there is an SEO guru lol that can grab traction fast. The going rate for these leads from multiple lead sources seems to be $10-$25 for internet.

  • I know it's hard and I am pulling my hair out over it and even the offline (radio) space is now saturated. This particular industry got regulated hard 3 years ago (for good reasons). I am looking into a CJ, Clickbank and there was another company AdFlair that I spoke with about a month ago and the rep there said that they have "exclusive publishers" that can produce the volume I want, but now there phone are dead!

I posted job listings for this in CL and Careerbuilder for director of internet marketing, but until it's filled I am digging myself which I don't mind.

Spoke with another client I have in this industry that takes about 25 radio calls a day from me and he does most of his sales from internet leads and it = a better CPA VS Radio. So I popped the question "What is the secret?". His reply "I have 2 extremely reliable, loyal and hungry publishers that use a combo of email blasts, SEO and PPC. Of course he wouldn't share and I don't blame him.
  • I'd check with some legit CPA networks like maxbounty, neverblue, panthera. Much better options than clickbank or CJ...they're mostly for information products and software.

    • Are there any other that you would recommend other than maxbounty, neverblue and panthera? Thanks!
  • CPA DNA. I haven't worked with any other so I'm not sure how reliable they are.
