If you have a Facebook page, and it has 75 likes, versus 75,000 likes, does that make a difference?

  • It sure does...
  • If I have a Facebook page with 75,000 likes, and my website is listed in the description of the page, and I sometimes make posts about my website, is that going to make a difference to my SEO? Right now, I'm seeing no search engine traffic from 75 likes. So, how many likes does it take? If that's the only thing I do, will it still pay off? Give me a lot of information on this topic.
  • If they are real likes, definitely. But my opinion is that, even if it's fake, if a real person sees 75000 likes already, he/she is more likely to like it due to their perceived popularity of the page. So more likes is definitely better.
  • 1st people will see the page with 75k , it has much more authority and I'm sure it'll get more conversion when they do a business.
2ndly, if you have a targeted and real fans, it'll be easier to make a buzz of your products .. =)

    • Yes and No.

You need to be socially active BUT social media is very easy to manipulate.

From Google's perspective, they have to let it count for something as it's a huge trend but the downside is that it would just be manipulated by 'I'll give you 20,000 follower' gigs on Fiverr.

So they did let it count, but not for much. I'd say about 5 - 10% overall maybe? Definitively worth your time, but all you really need to do is share content and be active.
  • Social signals will always be "the next big thing" in SEO.

I think they give you a bit of a short-term boost, but I think Google mostly uses them to confirm the veracity of your link profile (in other words, 10k links but no tweets=shady).
  • Yes. It makes a difference of 74,925 likes.

  • it really depends on how engaged the audience is. If the 75 ppl you have are actively engaged vs 75k who don't give a damn, then the 75 is all you need.

However, clearly, whatever you post to the 75k will definitely grab more eyeballs, unless they're blind to what you say already
