Adsense for Videos?

Just wondering, if you target a $1 CPC keyword for a website (and for the sake of a simple explanation, let's say you get $1 per click instead of a fraction of it), would you still receive $1 CPC for the same keyword for a YouTube video as well?

  • You can't target the price of a click with a keyword.
Adwords users target YOU. They set the price in the
auction. Google may set a minimum on some keywords,
your site may not warrant those ads. Biggest mistake
adsense users think, is that they can pick and choose
what price people pay for an ad on their site. Any
tool from google is for search, not the display network.
The display network is most often a fraction of what
people pay for search, and your site may be a fraction
    of that.

Youtube is a different animal altogether as far as the
way it works and the way it pays. Targeting is not
    as exact for one.

Seriously doubtful Youtube (YT) clicks are as high or higher than Google Display Network Ads.

YT is a good money source, but it's all about traffic/video numbers more than ever on YT, which YT has the built in traffic, so it's not even necessary to rank anything outside of YT, it can obviously help, but not necessary.

    • I know, but I meant that hypothetically speaking, let's say someone is paying $1 for the keyword "blue widgets" that you are targeting. What I'm asking is, would that $1 keyword still pay out the same amount whether or not it's been clicked through a YT video or by an ad on a website. I understand that even if the keyword is worth $1, you'll only receive a fraction of the $1 but I was just using it as an example.

Wait, so YouTube Adsense pays through CPM mainly instead of ad clicks?
  • No matter how much the CPC for a key word, it is irrelevant to your earnings for any click you get, the price will be different for any add on your page. Higher bidders ger the higher spots on your page, and lower bidders get the lower spots.

I guess I should be as specific as possible.

Let's say that Bidder A is bidding $1 on the keyword "blue widgets". Now, let's say out of that $1, you receive $0.50 once somebody clicks their ad on your website.

What I'm asking is would you still receive the same fraction of the dollar even if it was clicked on a YouTube video instead of a web page.
