SEOquake for Chrome

I'm using this extension to Chrome and as well as some great features, it also offers keyword density report for each page.

What bothers me is the way that the keyword density calculation is a bit strange. The extension is using some other formula than the conventional (KW/total words on page).

Total words on page: 1193 (whoa)
The example for that is: the word "blood" occurs 38 times and has a density of 3.19% (that's according to SEOquake and when you divide 38 and 1193, so it's okay for now). But, the KW "blood sugar" appears only 29 times, yet the tool says that the KW has a density of 4.86% (which is 29/1193 multiplied by 2, check). Isn't the keyword density of "blood sugar" supposed to be only 2.43%?

Or am I totally embarrassing myself right now??

  • Not to highjack your thread but is SEOQuake working for you right now? I cannot get it to return anything for Google. Bing? Yes. Google? No.

    • The KW density has nothing to do with the SE's

  • Just installed it. I have the feeling it makes pages load a bit slower.
  • The SEOQuake team has confirmed a problem due to a change in Google SERP display. A new version will be out this week.

  • This is getting way off topic. I have DISABLED SEOquake, but its icon still stays on my Chrome toolbar. So it doesn't show me any information about google BL's, PR, or anything like that. But when I go to my website's pages and press the button, a menu comes down. Then I click keyword density, and the rest is explained in the first post. My question is about the KW density formula, sheesh.
  • I am using seoquake and it helped me lot in checking keyword density. For single keyword it is fine and for keyword phrases it is showing higher percentage. I too still have confusion in this matter and want to get clarity from some professional seo person.

    • Of course, it gives you many benefits, there is no doubt to it.
