Here some talk about domain names. What do you think after the emd update several months ago does a com domain have over net or org? Do you think its topic specific or it doesn't matter anymore in the search engines?

.com may have a slight advantage as far as the search engines go, but as far as real visitors, which is what really counts, .com carries much more weight.

personally, i think it doesn't matter. look as sites such as problogger.NET or others - they have a high traffic volume and no .com domain. i believe in the end it´s about the stuff you put on the site and not about the domain you have. if it would be the case many sites wouldn't have visitors at all because they use their own name as the domain name, etc. so it´s all what you make out of your business, maybe a .com add a half percentage more credibility but you never know. but just my opinion maybe.

I honestly don't think it matters very much anymore. There might be a slight difference in favor of .com's just because people are more comfortable and have more exposure to .com's. But at the same time unless you are trying to create a brand and need all three, then you should really be fine going with .nets. In my personal opinion, .org's should be avoided unless you are a non-profit but again, I don't think there's much difference.

I usually go with a .com only because people out of habit type with the .com at the end, only because it has been around longer but .org and .net are fine to use as far as the search engines go
