Quick rant about quality content

It's funny that no matter the problem, so many people here vomit out something like "just write more quality content" as an answer.

Have you ever really thought about quality content though?

To the person reading this who thinks they are much smarter than the other Warriors...have you thought about what "quality content" means?

Because I'm here to tell you, you are not writing it. The people that work at Google are some of the smartest people around. If they are deciding what is "quality content"...I guarantee you are not fitting the bill.

I'm not trying to insult anybody, but you have to think about these generic myths that people spew out here without a second thought.

What is quality content to Steven Hawking is probably hard for MOST internet marketers to begin to comprehend.

What is quality content for a manufacturer of garden hoses probably won't match the quality content of a weight loss expert.

What is quality content for someone who thinks Paris Hilton is a genius is not quality content for those of us with functioning brains.

Google DOES NOT have a way to figure out what "quality content" is. What they mean is, make a good site that your visitors will love and that is your definition of quality.

For the hose manufacturer, that means a couple of great images of a garden hose and 50 words explaining the benefits of that hose over any other hose.

It DOES NOT mean a 1,000 word article on the history of hoses. No human would read that for any reason.

Quality DOES NOT = 1,000 words. Sorry.

Yes,...I understand this post is a waste of time, but insomnia is a helluva thing.

  • I understand the point in this article, but think of any authority site, they are authority because they provide quality work...

    • There are some things Google could do to measure "quality". Computer-based grammar and spelling checkers have been around for over 25 years and I'm sure Google uses such code sets to mark down the most blatant spinners, spammers and dodgy translators.
  • Actually, Google can understand quality content now.
