Hi,
How to you use Permalink Settings on your wordpress website ?
i notice my main website is mywebsite.com//%category%/%postname%/ but the other website is mywebsite/postname

What do you use and what is better for seo ?
What happen if I change the structure ? Url will change right ?

I prefer using. ....com/sample-post. This is the best SEO friendly permalink structure.

If you change permalink, all your post url will be changed.

I use:

/%post_id%/%postname%/
because it is much easier to give someone my url + id than telling them the postname with all the dashes

What concern me is I just notice this yesterday and I want to change my main website to ...com/sample-post but is something I can do about changing the url ?

  Not Sure what you mean? If you are using latest wordpress version you can select /%postname%/ and all your posts urls will have the posts title used in the url.
  eg. if you change the setting of permalinks to /%postname%/ then the url will change from www.yourdomain.com/1 to www.yourdomain.com/your-posts-title
  
  This goes across all posts not just one, let me know if that is what you meant or not

well.
If I have url mydomain/categoryname/post name and change that to mydomain/postname then I´m changing the url right ?
That mean if I have add baclklinks somewhere or what so ever my url is not the same any more ?
This will also affect the search in Goggle right

I just tried changing my permalink to a Custom Structure to this /%postname%/
& checked the box next to it & it keeps going back to /sample-post/

Is it suppose to do this shouldn't the box that says Custom Structure stay
checked instead of Post name.

/%postname%/ is better for SEO.
