Pretty simple post really, what do you do for off page SEO when you are targetting for LOCAL business. Would be good if a few of the senior members could chip in!

I look at my clients' competitors and go buy the same links or better. As long as the on-page is tight that's all you need. Local SEO is a results business and that's what I deliver.

    Simples...

      Wow, that is simple.

So spy on your competitors, buy links = rank...?

Perhaps we are oversimplifying things here.

Careful with this kind of advice, real businesses at stake.

The process is no different than if you were to rank some other type of site. I am talking from purely an SEO standpoint.

If your business is held in New York, then participate in discussion sites of New York, participate in Yahoo Answers and answer questions from New York, publish your ads in New York classifieds and advertise in New York yellow pages.

Also, building links using local sites like

    local directories
    local forums
    local blogs
    creating content would help.

Would say creating some free blogs at Blogger.com and Squidoo and sites like this help if you made the blogs about your local city and then linked to your local business site?

If you're services meant for a specific area where you live in, then you can post a local address and a local phone within your site. This tells search engines that you're really local. Otherwise, you can post ads in local classifieds and target the cities and the categories you want to have your ad in.

Submit to local directories and use local forums if possible and add my website as a signature. You just have to place your website on a place, where people WOULD LIKE to see it!

Avoid Duplication in your Campaign. Merge Places and Plus listings, do onpage, Submit Citations as much as you can. Build some authority of your website. do Offpage etc services
