I have an article directory where I am trying to rank each of the categories on Google. The category pages look like this: Helpful Information - science. My problem is that I do not know how I would put keywords on such pages in order for me to rank for those keywords. Will someone please help? This is my first time attempting to rank a page on Google.

If you are having problem doing keyword rankings yourself, I will advise you to outsource your seo campaigns. you can outsource on warriorforum, seomall.net, fiverr and any service you trust.

Please don't listen to anybody who advocates outsourcing seo to Fiverr. Honestly!

I'm assuming this is a keyword research question rather than a how to put keywords on a site?

Before you go spending money on seo services, you should at least know what you want to rank for. You can't measure your success if you don't have a set goal

The problem with making too broad of a directory is that you will be competing with massive directories. You could instead focus on creating a niche directory, something that you can actually rank subcategories for.

I can't really see a subject theme on your balixo.info site yet. I suggest you start there!

I'd spend some time on keyword research before you start.

From the looks of it you're trying to rank for the word "science". Good luck bro...

Also, is that adsense on your site? You're going to get banned. Anybody that looks around your site will tell you the same. If you value your adsense account at all, disassociate it with that site immediately!

I also have a suspicion that you're not being straight with us. The nonsense around that site is incredibly ridiculous and you don't appear to be attempting to rank for anything but gibberish

"jckalhkmhagjklmghmjhgcfslmslhgjs mlhgslmhgjclsmhjgwlmljmflshgjmslg fghjfgsjckalhkm h agjklmghmjh g cfslmslhgjsm lhgslmhgjcl smhj gwlmljmflshg jmslgfghjfgsjcka lhkmhagjklm ghmjhgcfslm slhgjsm lhgslmhgj..."

Really? That's your latest article in the Science category???

It seemed that you need to re-evaluate your website- content, on-page SEO, and keywords.

You will need to fix your site pages before you get a good ranking for these pages in G.

Like everyone else is saying here, start with good keyword research then apply good on-page SEO with a lot of good contents as well.

This is a very difficult question to help you with at your current level of understanding.
After viewing your site it is plain to see that you are starting at the wrong end of the spectrum......I feel you would greatly benefit from a coarse in SEO and content creation, this would be the fastest way for you to get a grounding in what is required to achieve your Goals

You can't be serious. You have Science blog with a post about Fashion Designing, which was placed in the flipping Food category.

    But that's not all...

There's also 77 blog comments on the page, most with 2 outbound links.

I'd suggest you remove your Adsense code and forget about ranking.

In order to rank your category pages on desired keywords, you need to decide on variety of keywords you wish to increase rankings for, and to ensure your category page has snippets of articles shown on that page - and including those desired keywords. So, when you enable, say, 10 snippets with 100 words each, your category page will have 1000 words of content that eventually can be worth promoting. Since the content is getting updated (because new articles come in, and new snippet is then created each time), it is quite good signal for the search engines' bots to often visit your site, and rank it naturally over time (updated content is one very important ranking factor).

But, there is a catch. If you accept other people's content, then you can't control what keywords they will use and where they will put them, so your snippets may be constructed out of irrelevant parts of published articles.

In short, you need to ensure only quality content that is human moderated, is going to be published in your directory. Then figure out how only keyword relevant parts of articles can be gathered on each category page.

Then start to promote your category URLs by getting some high quality link building services available in this forum (check the one provided in my signature, too)

I'm pretty sure Google frowns on trying to rank internal search pages which is exactly what that URL in OP looks like.

Amazon isn't a small time site, they pump millions of dollars into Google PPC, there's a difference between OP & Amazon.

So, in order to rank category pages we need to spend millions of dollars on PPC...

Your suggestion has been noted. I understand everything now.

I didn't say that, I was talking about internal search pages generated by the site/domain.

I know a few sites make it a habit to rank internal search pages but IMO it's a horrible idea because I'm pretty sure I've read something about the subject on Google search blog, where Google wasn't happy about it.

My point was the URL structure is setup as an internal search query, that's why I highlighted the question mark (?) & everything behind the question mark in the URL (?category=science). That's exactly what a typical internal search query URL looks like. There's no sense in setting up a URL for a category that looks like an internal search query. That's an unnecessary headache waiting to happen.

Go do a search here on Warrior Forum & you'll see exactly what I'm talking about (internal search query URL).

            Example:

I can't remember the last time I've ever seen an internal search querry page rank for any useful keywords. I looked for the Google article on their search blog, almost impossible to find considering the entire blog is dedicated to the word search.

Lol, If the guy wants the URLs setup as search queries, have at it. Looks like a shot in the foot to me.

Yeah, they are rare because pages with that URL structure are usually dynamic pages. And I don't know any Webmasters that backlink to dynamic pages. Other than the "dofollow" Youtube trick.
