Branded Footer Links for Agencies

What's been your experience? I see mixed results in top rankings of companies that do it and ones that don't do it at all.

The links generally are of low-quality. Site-wide, jammed with anchor text, on an unrelated website... doesn't seem good.

    Are you talking about those stupid links that the agencies put in to shout out to everyone thst they did the SEO for the site? If so, I think it's a bad idea all around...

    I don't use them but I've recently lost some ranking to agencies that use that method. And the nr1 spot for seo "my city" is an agency that's doing seo for the biggest newspaper here so they get thousands of these footer do follow backlinks. It seems to work

    These are very bad quality links can cause you loss in ranking.

    We put it on every site for advertising purpose , make sure to use the no-follow tag if you have many of them.
